I have been going to Disney World since I was a child. I have been to all of the parks except for the Animal Kingdom park. My favorite park at Disney World is the Magic Kingdom. I do like the others I have visited but they are not as "magical" as the Magic Kingdom.
When I was a kid I just went along for the ride, now as a parent I am the one who plans the trip. I have looked for tips and money saving ideas for our trips and now I am sharing them with you.

Have you checked out mousesavers.com? They have lots of info that can save you time and money. You can find ideas such as getting to seeing more of the park in one day with less lines.

Disney Budget Tips
Water: All of the counter restaurants in the parks give out FREE ice water! This could save you a bundle on drinks because you will need to stay hydrated. I suggest that you bring in one or two of your own water bottles and get the carry strap and refill all day long with free water.
Shops: Most of the shops have a discount shelf you should check out first and see if they have anything you like. You could also make a deal of only one shop purchase for the day or up to a certain dollar amount.
Souveneers: If you or your kids are into lanyards and pins get them on ebay before you go. You can buy the lower priced pins that no one wants then get the better ones later. Find a Disney Cast Member(worker at disney)and ask them to trade pins. Find the ones you want and get rid of the ones you don't want.

Fun Travel Tips
Start in the back of the park. Most people will start at the front and work their way around to the other parts. If you start in the back it will be less crowded right when the park opens, which means shorter lines for you.Consider taking the boat to the Magic Kingdom. They have characters and you can get a picture and autograph first thing. The boat is less crowded but it takes a bit longer than the monorail.
Try the Fast-Pass and the Baby-Swap options. The Fast-Pass is awesome we were able to get on one ride with no line.
Don't forget to look for the Hidden Mickey's!
