Those bad guys we love so much

Whatever their motive, be it greed, power, social status, lust, jealousy, sibling rivalry, or mere madness, Disney's villains have entertained us all. They have scared children (who love every minute of it), and they have taught lessons.

Governor Ratcliffe

Pocahontas (1995)

With grand plans to become rich and powerful, Ratcliffe was a brute. With the "New World" in front of him, he cared only to strip it clean, regardless of the cost. Destroying the Native Americans and the land was perfectly fine by him. Many lessons can be learned through this guy.

The Queen of Hearts

Alice in Wonderland (1951)

The Queen of HeartsSome villains seem to be evil geniuses, and others...well they are just nuts. The Queen of Hearts is flat out mad. 'Off with her head!!!' Like Madam Mim, in The Sword in the Stone, The Queen of Hearts was mean just on a whim.

Though she didn't have the grand evil master plan as many villains did, choosing a beheading as the solution for everything is pretty scary.

Hades

Hercules (1997)

HadesHades, the all-powerful Greek mythology king of the dead...so evil that the underworld shared his name.

His hatred and bitterness is obvious, and talent for manipulation clear. How can you not be impressed by a villain who exuded blue flames?

Kaa

The Jungle Book (1967)

Kaa - The Jungle BookAlthough he was not the scariest looking villain, Kaa is the threatening and cunning type. With a soothing voice, he hypnotized his victims.

Even being a snake, long viewed as manipulative and persuasive (since Eve), Zaa was indeed able to come across as a likable villain...possibly by hypnotizing audiences.

Villains are awesome

Shan-Yu

Mulan (1998)

This is about the scariest villain of them all. He has no humor to him whatsoever. We often see the villains in their hideout with a sidekick and a lot of humor. Not so with this guy. We don't know why he does what he does; we don't know his motive. We only know that he is violent, ruthless, and determined. Even an adult seeing this movie, would be a bit afraid of this guy.
