HERE'S WHAT I THINK

Disneyland vs WDW

Disneyland is the original but WDW is bigger so what constitutes the best Disney Park? Do you care about Disney history, or the biggest newest attractions? Did you grow up going to one Disneyland or WDW? What's your favorite? Sound off here!

I love Disneyland

Disneyland is the original and best Disney Park. Walt Disney actually walked there and helped design it. When you visit Disneyland you don't need to spring for some twelve thousand dollar travel package you can just stay at a motel 6 or a Best Western then head on over to the park and have an awesome Disney experience. You can see it in a day , you don't have to take off weeks and weeks. Being cheaper means average people can go over and over again. Plus it has the Matterhorn and you can get a lunchtime Monte Christo at the best restaurant at any Disney park. Disneyland is the one that we grew up with, that gave us great childhood memories. It's got a much better Pirates of the Caribbean and a more attractive Haunted mansion. All hail the original.

I love Walt Disney World

WDW has so much more to offer. More parks, more choices and more fun. It Truly is a world unto itself. Why take a lousy day trip when you can have a vacation experience. Give me the whole enchilada and have Cinderella serve it to me on a platter. Plus it has a bigger castle, and no one has actually ordered a Monte Christo sandwich since 1976. Oh and haunted mansions are supposed to be ugly. They're haunted!

All Hail Disneyland!

David says:

Disneyland is better and it's not even close. When it comes to this debate, the only thing WDW fanatics have to say is that Disney World is bigger. So what? Bigger doesn't mean better, and there is no better example than this to illustrate that. Disneyland is where the true magic is. It has a feeling that you just don't get at Disney World. It's also where the history is because it is the original Disney park that Walt himself built. He dreamt it, walked in it, and even lived in it. Everywhere you go you can see and feel Walt's personal touch in everything......something you don't get at the other resort in Orlando. Disneyland is also where the charm is. Sure it is smaller, but it's also more tourist-friendly, and easier to get around. Who wants to take buses, trams, and boats just to get to another area of the resort? No thanks. WDW fans claim that their resort is more of a vacation destiny. I admit the scope is impressive, but it's also bloated. I don't need all the extra stuff. All I need is the spirit of Disney done the right way, and in that aspect Disneyland blows WDW out of the water. I could also mention the many ride versions that are better at Disneyland (especially Pirates of the Caribbean) than its WDW counterparts. But there are too many to go into detail. I could also mention other ways in general where Disneyland has WDW beat, but I don't have time to write a novel. WDW is a cool place, but it just isn't Disneyland....case closed.

I love the original. It has so much more Disney history. Walt was personally involved in its building, design, look, feel and everything else. I like my theme parks designed by a dreamer not a committee!

I love WDW!!

Walt Disney World. No contest!

The castle at DL is laughable. It's short and squat and not impressive at all. DW's is amazing. The layout of DL isn't as good as DW. It has too many dead ends, not enough ways to get to where you want to go. Since people live close to DL they can come after work and school so nights are crazy crowded. We felt like sardines. Fantasmic doesn't have it's own stadium at DL like it does in DW. There are only 2 parks and 3 Disney themed hotels at DL. Many more choices at DW.

I think Walt would agree that the new park improved his wonderful vision of what a theme park experience could be. :)
