About District 9 Movie
District 9 is supposedly shot in the same documentary vein as Neill Blomkamp's short film Alive in Joburg and takes audiences around with the local police, the Multi National United, as they attempt to keep the alien refugees that have descended on Earth (Johannesburg, South Africa) restricted to certain corners of the city. District 9 is supposedly about a character named Wikus, played by Sharlto Copley, who is a government agent on the run from the government after being infected by "some weird eye altering alien biotechnology" (SciFi Cool). District 9 is an internment camp where non-humans have been forced to live and this is where Wikus (Copley) takes refuge.
District 9 is directed by Neill Blomkamp, written by Neill Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell and produced by Peter Jackson.

Alive in Joburg - The Story

Alive in Joburg is set in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1990. Gigantic alien spaceships are seen hovering above the city of Johannesburg and the aliens eventually descend to become refugees in the city. Upon descending, the locals are awed by the extraterrestrials and their 'bio-suits'. The film depicts the aliens as living an even more outcast life than the locals themselves. A new kind of apartheid develops between locals and aliens. As time progresses, the aliens infiltrate different parts of the city, engaging in crimes to order to survive and frequently engaging with the police. In documentary form, the film is replete with interviews and footage taken from handheld cameras that portray the increasing tension between the locals and the aliens, especially once the alien spaceships begin pilfering electricity and other natural resources from the city.
According to the interviews on film, the aliens were enslaved labour that had fled to Earth to escape the miserable conditions of their enslavement. The aliens have no official name/title and appear as two legged humanoid robots. Some of the aliens' most conspicuous characteristics include absence of hair and ears, protruding tentacles insteand of a mouth and pixelated eyes.

About Peter Jackson - Producer

Peter Jackson Biography
The eponymous Peter Jackson of Lord of the Rings fame hardly needs an introduction but for those who have no inclination as to who this three time academy award winning director might be, I shall attempt to give a brief synopsis of Mr. Jackson's life history.
Peter Jackson was born on Halloween in a small town in New Zealand in 1961
During his childhood, he drew inspiration from Ray Harryhausen's films and television series such as Thunderbirds and Monty Python's Flying Circus
Jackson never did make into film school but learnt his craft through trial and error
After buying a camera from the spoils of his first job, Jackson embarked on his first film - Bad Taste. Some person at the New Zealand Film institute noticed Peter Jackson's talent and gave him the money to compete Bad Taste.
Many of Peter Jackson's earlier movies were adult rated horror movies.
In 1994 Jackson made a markedly different kind of movie called Heavenly Creatures that earned considerable critical acclaim and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards.
Peter Jackson's first big budget Hollywood movie The Frighteners (1996) starred Michael J. Fox.
Peter Jackson won the rights to film J. R. R. Tolkien's epic in 1997 after meeting with producer Saul Zaentz.
The Return of the King itself met with huge critical acclaim, winning a total eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director making Jackson one of only six people to win oscars for producing, directing, and writing in the same year. The film was the first of the fantasy film genre to ever win the award for Best Picture and was the second sequel ever to win Best Picture.
Jackson's mother Joan died 3 days before the release of the first movie in the trilogy, The Fellwship of the Ring.
Peter Jackson's remake of the 1933 classic King Kong was released on 14 December 2005, and grossed around US$550 million worldwide. Its release on home video and DVD was even bigger, as it set records for a Universal Pictures DVD in sales figures He was reportedly being paid a fee of US$20 million upfront, the highest salary ever paid to a film director in advance of production, against a 20 percent take of the box-office rentals.
