The Original d20 Fantasy RPG

The barkeep of the Rutting Unicorn jerks his head significantly toward a lone figure in threadbare robes shrouded in the shadows at the far corner of the public house. Nearing, you glimpse Architeuthis' visage, hideously stained vert et gules in magical combat long ago.

"I have forseen your coming," he intones in a voice at once soft and hoarse, yet indescribably powerful. "Buy me an ale, and I will fulfill your quest..."

Dungeons and Dragons

Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop gaming system developed by TSR, Inc. in 1974, giving rise to a whole genre of Role-Playing Gmes (RPGs).

Although many successful RPGs have been developed since -- each with avid fans -- D&D (now published by Wizards of the Coast) has remained by far the most popular.

Twisty Little Passages

Twisty Little Passages is a phrase found in the first "interactive fiction" Colossal Cave Adventure. While the book is probably not what most DMs are looking for, it focusses on the often-neglected story-telling aspects of module or campaign design, and is well worth a look.

Core Rules CD ROM

TSR published a CD ROM version of their AD&D Core Rules in 1999. (Before CD-ROM burners were common.) It was a tremendous resource, well worth the $60 or so it originally sold for. Today it is out of print, but still available used from time to time. If you aren't comitted to the newer "3.5" rules, or don't mind "filling in the blanks," it's great, but be prepared for "collectible" pricing....

Core Manuals

Every player needs a Core Rules manual, and a good DM will try to keep a few used copies on hand for "new blood" entering their campaigns

AD&D Rules Supplements

http://wholeed.googlepages.com/DnD-Supplements.xml

Improvements to the Dungeons & Dragons universe are generally introduced via rules supplements which allow you to add new character classes, abilities, spells, magical items, and so on to your campaigns.

Since the character race supplements seem to be topping the charts right now, it seems that the Dungeon & Dragons Race Series Gift Set would be worth mentioning. The collection includes Races of Stone, Races of Destiny, and Races of the Wild

AD&D Accessories

Accessories are pretty much like supplements, except that they are considered "optional" elements that the DM may include in campaigns, while supplements are generally mainstream additions to the rule set that "must" be included for campaigns to be up-to-date.

AD&D Campaign Settings

Creating enough details to flesh out a game universe and provide a rich gaming experience is a daunting task -- after all there are whole series of books devoted to that task. Accordingly, many DMs opt for the use of Campaign Settings which include the basis for detailed game-worlds complete with geography, lore, mythos, and other story elements.

Dragonlance Campaign Setting

Wikipedia calls the DragonLance Campaign Setting: "The first complete fictional world to be intentionally produced and marketed as an RPG supplement, with product tie-ins (novels, role-playing modules, figurines, etc.) prepared and manufactured when it was first released."

The earlier campaign settings Greyhawk and Blackmoor were simply the personal campaigns of Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, respectively. Collaborative efforts such as DragonLance would soon become the norm.

DragonLance Books @ Amazon.com

Amazon.com's keyword-based search makes it almost impossible to separate the AD&D Dragonlance Campaign materials from the DragonLance fiction series. This feed is mostly the fictional background. Someday I may pick through the rubble and list some Dragonlance Campaign materials individually.

"Featured" AD&D Modules @ Amazon.com

http://feeds.feedburner.com/AddModulesAmazoncom

The AD&D modules featured here are from an obscure page that Amazon.com hasn't maintained for a long time, and they're all out of print. The best way to find modules is to search for a known author, since the book experts @ Amazon seem to be unaware that the AD&D modules category exists.

I've never quite been sure what distinguishes a blog from a regular webpage. Timeliness seems to have something to do with it, but that doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule.

Anyway, here are some of the things I've been working on lately...
