HERE'S WHAT I THINK

Do Animals Go To Heaven? Animals must go to Heaven, or else where is that spirit that animated them while they were alive on earth? We are strongly connected to our pets emotionally, as they become members of our families. They were created as we were by our "creator" and have a part in our daily lives. If you go by the Holy Bible, then you'll be able to see that there are animals in the "afterlife". "And the lion shall lie down with the lamb, and a little child shall lead them". Even Jesus Christ is called "The Good Shepherd". And a shepherd herds what-sheep-an animal!

Yes, you're right!

aj2008 says:

I can't help thinking that more animals probably deserve their place in heaven than us humans!

Brenna says:

i do belive a all animals go to heaven.Because i belive!! My dog tinker Bell died.. And i hope she has the better life in heaven!!

amandascloset0 says:

I too believe that animals will be in heaven. The Bible also says that nature cries out to be redeemed. There is also the passage that states a child will put it's finger into the hole of an asp (snake) and it will not be hurt. This seems to support the idea that animals will be in heaven.

ftuley says:

Lovely lens!

TrueGhostTales says:

I have read MANY stories that seem to support the idea that animals have souls/spirits. Hmmm that does sound odd when you consider that humans are animals :O) But yes, I believe that if anyone can go to heaven then animals can.

Hannah says:

yes they must well im not sure but maybe Jesus will let them we dont really know

margaret says:

they must or i do not want to be in heaven without my dear cats that i love with my heart. i give my love and hear to my pets that i love so much. heaven without pets would be a dull place for sure.

JoanneOtt says:

I believe they do.

Sarunas says:

i want to believe that they do.

PetSnakes says:

Before man God created animals. He said they were "good". God has promised to recreate the heavens and the earth. To make all things new and good again (as it was before the fall). Animals were part of the good before the fall.

God has said He is going to recreate the heavens and the earth; you can bet your very life He will do it. Because He is not a man that He should lie, nor is He a son of man to change His mind.

LissaKlar says:

I strongly believe they do. Especially being really connected to my cat who died, I know I'll see her in heaven. She helped me through rough patches. Every time I cried she would pop up out of nowhere and rub up against my face and lay in my lap.

AJ7469 says:

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out,
"Excuse me, where are we?"
"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.
"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.
"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I' ll have some ice water brought right up." The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog. After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
"Excuse me!" he called to the man. "Do you have any water?"
"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in."
"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog.
"There should be a bowl by the pump."
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.
"This is Heaven," he answered.
"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too."
"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell."
"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"
"No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave> > their best friends behind."

julcal says:

I believe that each and every living thing is a unique piece of the Tao, and when it dies, it returns. So yes, absolutely, animals go to heaven when they die.

TheWhistler says:

Of course the do, I don't know about anyone else but mine are coming with me and I hope to see a few there if I am luck enough to make it.

ideadesigns says:

We know horses are there, Jesus comes back on one (Rev 19:11). But it's a mystery to me if all animals are there. In Acts 10 God brings animals to Peter (in a trance) to eat. Provision. If animals are in heaven, could they talk (Numbers 22:28)? Just don't create an idol of your pet (Duet. 5:8). I love my pets, but love eternal life more. I'd like to get Jack Van Impe's DVD about animals in heaven, I'd trust his research.

Aquavel says:

My dogs are closer to Heaven than I am but they're teaching me.

Taylor says:

Yes They do go to heaven. This can be found in Revelations Chapter 4. John sees the earth in its immortal and eternal state. He see animals and people. There is more to the scripture but yes animal do have spirits and they will dwell in eternal filicity on an immortal earth.

Chrys says:

Yes they do for I have been visited by mine, plus a new friend on leaving my home was surprised that only one dog came to see her out instead of the two she had seen on her arrival. This was 6 months one of my two dogs had died. My frend described her and the breed, there were no photos around.

~Perriwynkle says:

All I know is, if my dogs aren't there, I don't want to be there either!
If there is a power above, it can't possibly be so cruel as to take us from our beloved pets forever.
Thanks for visiting my lens.

dustytoes says:

I believe they do because Heaven is a place of total happiness and I'm sure that God realizes that a big part of us would be missing without our beloved pets.

No way, Monkeybrain!

informedhuman says:

Why are people so determined to cling to old myths and superstitions. How can modern rational thinking people believe there is a strange being somewhere watching over and controlling all life in this vast universe? It's simply nonsense from a time when man thought the Sun was a God and disease came from evil spirits.

Bodybychocolates says:

There is nothing biblical that supports one way or another. It doesn't have to do with our salvation or relationship with God. He love animals just look all around and there will be animals in heaven. We just don't have the answer.

Spirits just read one of the post below and spirit is the air we breath and that is very clear in the bible it has no thought or any other action to it.

kathryn says:

They come back as people or a bug, but they do go to heven after their second life. With the exception of cats who have nine lives to be different kinds of creatures, animals have two, and then they go to heaven on Earth. There, animals act just like they did on Eath, but in a different world. Same with humans. Humans have two lives but the second time they come back down as bugs. After a while, the creatures go back down to Earth as the species they were before, but not the same one. They are reborn smarter and different. They do not remember who or what they were before or any of the things that happened. Of course, God is real and we see him once we die, but we do not remember seeing him or what happens to us after we die. Our minds never go black, like some people believe. We and them keep living.

flutestar123 says:

I don't think animals go to heaven. I believe that animals can't go to heaven because they can't accept God into their hearts.

Jesi says:

i think animals have already a heaven where they live

Ener-G says:

I believe in reincarnation, but I'm not sure if animals reincarnate (although Buddhists believe they do). I do know as an energy healer that animals are not as attached to their physical forms as human are with theirs.

Friamin says:

I believe we are all energy beings each with our own unique vibrational frequencies, this includes animals. I am afraid our concept of heaven is a construct we have designed to sooth our fears of death. Once we and our pets pass on from this physical plane I believe our energy will survive but not in a way that we will be conscious of our individual selves. We are energy beings...energy can't be created or destroyed....We live on but the big question is how and where. If I had my choice I would like to share that space with my beloved pets :)

Phil says:

While animals are God's creations, they do not go to heaven. They should be treated humanely. But, the end of life is it. Sorry to disappoint. I understand losing a pet is painful, but that does not create "doggie heaven" because it is convenient to you.

YourPersonalGuide says:

In the Purnaic texts of Vedic Earth, preserved within the region now known as India, there is specific details of the transmigration of the soul and how one can taken on an animal body or a human body or a plant body or what ever based on the actions one performs in their current life and what they think about at the time of death.
In these texts there are elaborate descriptions of the different plains of existence and how they are situated in amongst each other.
Of course this knowledge is said to have been passed down in an unbroken chain of disciplic succession (guru to disciple), originating from the source of all intelligence, Shree Krishna, and the information elucidated upon was based not on a sensory understanding but on a spiritual understanding.
"Religion without science or philosophy is sentiment. And philosophy without religion is mental speculation. So they must be combined together." A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

VJYoung says:

The actual existence of heaven is a question in very human beings mind and there is no conclusive answerer to the question. I prefer to work and spend my time bringing life on earth as close to haven as possible. That includes plants and animals. I can not imagine a heaven without plants and animals.

Persius says:

Heaven describes a mythical place of peace and love that was invented by humans to make them feel better about death. Here's another way to look at death....you were "dead" for billions of years before you were conceived with no inconvenience to you whatsoever. The same will be true for the billions of years after you are dead. If the idea of heaven makes you feel better, so be it. You might as well have animals there with you.

Ralf says:

The same number of animals go to heaven as people go to heaven, ZERO.

Livewyre says:

You must first define Heaven... which definition are you using??
Different faiths have differing ideas, but I have never come across scriptual evidence in any faith of animals in Heaven. The counter to this is of course, if you believe there are animals in Heaven, do you believe there are animals in Hell?? Do animals commit sins, do they make wrong choices in their lives? Can they be redeemed??
The answer to all these questions is NO!
When they die, animals die.... they are not destined for an afterlife as they have no spiritual aspect to their lives on earth. I loved my dog and lost her some years ago, I don't have to agonise over whether she was 'saved', she simply died - I can accept it, thinking she may have gone to Heaven doesn't really help me...

ideasbymarz says:

No, the spirtual soul is what makes humans different from all other animals. (for better or worst) not the opposable thumb as many scientist would have yo beleive

lens4Him says:

There is no scriptural evidence whatsoever to support an argument for animals going to heaven so I shall have to say no - much as I would like my dog to join me

fefe says:

Not even sure there is a "Heaven"

A Dog For Jesus

A Dog For Jesus
By Rudyard Kipling

I wish someone had given Jesus a dog
As loyal and loving as mine
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.

As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog
Would have followed Him all through the day
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.
It is sad to remember that Christ went away
To face death alone and apart
With no tender dog following close behind
To comfort its Master's Heart.
And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn
How happy He would have been
As His dog kissed His hands and barked its delight
For The One who died for all men.

Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine
The old pal so dear to me
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone
Knowing they're in eternity.
Day after day, the whole day through
Wherever my road inclined
Four feet said, "I am coming with you!"
And trotted along behind.

Product Description
Over the past thirty years there has been a tremendous growth in interest in the multidisciplinary field of human-companion animal interactions and relationships. The increased interest in human-pet relationships is not surprising considering that pets are kept in at least half of the households in Western societies. What is so special about the relationships people have with their pets? Are we very different from our ancestors in the way we feel about animals? What does pet keeping tell us about ourselves and our relationships with people? Can pets be good for our health? Does having pets help promote empathy for other humans? Companion Animals and Us brings together some of the newest research from a wide variety of disciplines including anthropology, history, psychology, sociology, and human and veterinary medicine to explore these and many other questions. This book will provide fascinating reading for anyone interested in understanding more about the human-pet relationships.

Review
Your book, Will I See Fido in Heaven?, drove me to a careful personal study of the Bible's animal passages in the original languages. These passages adequately prove to me that air-breathing animals are not merely biochemical machines. Your book is filled with excellent information as well as a compassion for God's most amazing earthly creation outside the human race. I believe it correctly reveals that God has an eternal plan for the animal world. It will be a great comfort to the Christian who has lost a beloved animal friend, as well as an open door for the animal lover who has to consider his or her own relationship to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. --Reverend Jeff Harker, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Columbia City, IN

I have read the book and am sure it will help many people. It is a book for animal lovers and expecially people with pets, or those who have lost pets. It is very Biblical, which means that Christian bookshops will love it. It has certainly raised my awareness of this issue. --Annabel Robson, Commissioning Editor Religious Books, Hodder & Stoughton Publishers, London, England

roduct Description
Animals being in heaven is a biblical fact. The bible explains the animal kingdom from the time they were created up to the time of the resurrection and the second coming of Christ.

About the Author
I have been married to my wife for 42 years. I am now at the age of 61. The Lord has blessed my wife and me with two daughters and four grandchildren. I became interested in the bible at the age of 16. After having studied the bible and listening to numerous ministers, I concluded there were too many different beliefs among these ministers about certain subjects that are in the bible. At the age of 58, I decided on finding the truth if animals will be in heaven, and what animals would be there. After three years of intense study and research, I found not only does the bible tell us animals will be in heaven, but the bible also tells us the animals are to be resurrected at the second coming of Christ. I knew God could have but one answer about the animal kingdom being in heaven, and through his help and my faith in his word, I have discovered the truth.

Do Dogs Go To Heaven? Eternal Answers for Animal Lovers

Amazon Price: $13.57 (as of 07/11/2009)Buy Now

Product Description
Do Dogs Go To Heaven? is a question the author's Mom asked a number of ministers. Hearing each one give different "shallow" answers, Jean Holmes felt this question deserved a better answer. The Bible does answer her Mom's question with an emphatic "YES!" Long held theology that animals lack souls and spirits is soundly refuted with numerous Bible texts. This book addresses hard questions, like why God required animal sacrifices, in loving truth. The role of animals and the relationship Jesus Christ had with animals is illuminating. This book presents a brilliant tapestry of Bible verses, interwoven with animal behavior and intelligence studies, and anecdotal evidence of animals as intelligent, caring companions here and in the hereafter. Bible accounts of animals as healers, helpers and rescuers are laid against modern narratives. Do Dogs Go to Heaven is very readable, yet crafted with scholarly precision. It is already providing comfort to those who have lost loved animal friends.

Hyland, an evangelical Christian minister active in prison ministry, migrant farmworker rights, female equality issues, and animal rights, attempts to locate animal-rights thinking in the Bible and thereby justify the animal rights movement to Bible-believing Christians. She contends that the Latter Prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah, and Hosea) opposed not only religious formalism but also specifically the animal sacrifice of the Temple cult. She asserts that the pre-Fall Edenic images of Genesis and the Peaceable Kingdom vision of Isaiah 11:4-9 represent God's Kingdom as it was, will be, and ought to be now. None of God's creatures is carnivorous by nature; sin brought meat-eating into Eden and caused the widespread cult of animal sacrifice. Hyland necessarily struggles against St. Paul's view of Jesus' crucifixion as an atoning sacrifice, for the sacrificial death of Jesus implicitly justifies animal sacrifices. Her tone is often preachy and hostile toward most scholars who find little concern with animal rights in scripture. These scholars, however, are correct; the Bible just does not concern itself with the humane treatment of animals. Thus, while her writing is clear, her conclusions are not compelling.

She's not some cold psychologist, but rather a pet owner herself who dealt with her own painful journey through the grieving process. She found that there wasn't a lot of help for her. Other books are either too cold and clinical...or they're too sad, and just make you cry harder. And none of them had workbook-style questions to guide her through her journey. From Publishers Weekly
"Rocky's loss taught me how deeply we grieve for our loved animals, the intensity of pain and the length of time it can last," writes Betty Carmack, a nurse and professional pet loss counselor. In Grieving the Death of a Pet, Carmack draws from her experience of counseling more than two thousand people who have lost a beloved pet, as well as the loss of her Rocky and other furry friends. She offers the book as a kind of pet-loss support group to counter "a world that reminds us repeatedly that grief for an animal doesn't count as much as grief for a person." It's poignant and sometimes heartrending, filled with personal stories of love and loss as well as Scripture and thoughts on faith.

Responding to an alarming increase in cancer and other diseases in ever-younger pets, Goldstein, founder of the Smith Ridge Veternary Center in upstate New York, offers a vivid and engrossing account of how toxic environment and poor diet are proving as deadly to our animals as they are to us. "Cancer is the far marker, the defining outer limit of how toxic our world has become, and of what those toxins can do to animals," writes Goldstein. Declaring himself one of a growing number of holistic veterinarians, Goldstein outlines an approach to healing that revolves around strengthening the immune system through diet and such holistic healing techniques as acupuncture and homeopathy, so that an animal can heal itself.

Book Description
If it were a simple choice, many people would choose to treat and care for their pets with natural therapies. Unfortunately, most cat care-givers find the expectations and requirements of natural pet health care fairly imposing and outside their reality in regards to cat care. Unlike the other resources on the subject, Whole Health for Happy Cats provides readers with the basic information to enable them to ask the right questions as well as find the right answers for their cat and their lifestyle. For individuals interested in caring for their cat without the use of drugs or chemicals, Whole Health for Happy Cats will enable them to incorporate holistic treatments into their lifestyle and benefit from reduced health care costs and a longer and healthier life for their cat. Although the book's approach is organic, it also presents well-documented health facts and research so that cat owners can make the very best decisions for their cat's lifelong health and well-being.

From Booklist
The study of children, suggests Purdue professor Melson, has tended to be humanocentric, with the role of animals in childrens' lives ignored. Yet, as she amply demonstrates, young people often seem to have a closer relationship with their pets than they do with their parents. It is from animals, the author argues, that children first learn about love, loss, and loyalty; it is with animals that children learn how to nurture. Children, she suggests, may even understand animals better than they understand adult humans, since animals' behavior is simple and straightforward. It seems rather obvious that kids have a special bond with their pets, one that may never be re-created with a human, so it may come as a surprise to some readers just how unexplored this area of child development is. Those looking for a pop treatment of the topic may find Melson's rigorous study a bit tough going, but for anyone willing to work at it, this perceptive, groundbreaking account sheds valuable new light on a fascinating subject. This is such a beautiful lens. I just made my first lens and am ready to do my next one. I want it to look great but I'm not great with tech stuff. I believe with all my heart that animals go to Heaven when they die. I believe in God and that he created the animals here on earth just as He did create us humans. This is a sensitive topic for me right now because I just lost 2 of my beautiful cats a month apart. Caesar was 16 and died with lymphoma this past December just before Christmas. His best friend, Nikki, age 21 died exactly a month later. They were inseprable always. I know Niklki was an old baby but I can't help but believe he was grieving for Caesar. He went all over the house looking for him. I know they are together at Rainbow Bridge. What a beautiful story. I still have 5 cats and I cherish them. Thank you for an awesome lens. I'll be back.

in reply to Snozzle Snozzle~I think most of us would like to know the answer to that, too (about heaven). I'm in agreement with most of these comments, that where my dog is, is where I want to go. We become very attached to our pets. I couldn't imagine a God creating pets for us to love so much and never be able to see again after they die. That wouldn't be a God in my opinion.

Great 5* lens but I think the question has to be: What is Heaven?

If there is one, as talked about, then of course animals go as well - why not? How could any God leave them out? Man and animals live on, learning, improving and developing.

An interesting subject.

Mike.

Thanks so much for this lens; God makes all the creatures in the first place so of course they he takes them back when their time is finished here. As an Animal Control Officer, I see a lot of wasted lives when it comes to wonderful animals and I know that God is watching after them and waiting for them to come home to him. He would not abandon his creations to indefinate purgatory.

Vets Say People Need to Understand Their Pets

We've been told for years now that getting a pet may rank right up there with clean living when it comes to improving our health and disposition. A good dog, or even a cat, can take away some of our loneliness, ease depression, and lower our cholesterol, according to the Mayo Clinic.

One study even found that stockbrokers with pets were better able to control their high blood pressure than stock brokers without pets.

Lots of science backs that stuff up, and that prompted a team of veterinarians at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, to ask a simple question. If pets do so much for us, why are we so often abysmally ignorant when it comes to their needs?

One thing led to another, and the vets have just released a new textbook, Companion Animals: Their Biology, Care, Health and Management. The book is designed for general education courses on the college level, and the authors think they're addressing a subject that has been long neglected.

We know we love our pets, but too often we don't take the time to understand the very different world that pets inhabit, and how similar, and different, they are from us. Do you know your dog can suffer from depression? And your iguana needs ultraviolet light, not just a steady diet of crickets? And your ever loving cat, if left to its own devices, can turn into a neighborhood predator?
