This is confirmed Doctor Who news. Speculation and rumors do not belong here.
- Donna Nobel had a human metacrisis in episode 13 of Season 4. The Doctor had to wipe all her memories of her travels with him and return her home to her mother and grandfather. Her character wanted to remain travelling.
- Christmas Special 2009 "The Next Doctor" received excellent ratings. It was great Doctor Who, but in my opinion, not as good as Season 4. The character portraying himself as The Doctor turned out to be a human, who had a tragic encounter with Cybermen. Using a Cyberman programming device, he infused his mind with all the Cyberman knowledge of The Doctor, making him think he himself was The Doctor. The end of the show confirms the name of the 2009 Easter as "Planet of the Dead". As The Doctor returned Donna Nobel home, he started the show without a companion, and did not gain a companion during this show.
- David Tennant is leaving Doctor Who sometime during the 2009 specials.
- Matt Smith is confirmed to be the actor to portray the 11th Doctor. He will appear in either the last special episode of 2009 or the first regular series 5 episode in 2010. There is an extended Doctor Who Confidential interview with Matt Smith.
