Doctor Who Mistakes! Can You Count Them?

Did you ever notice that the New Doctor Who is just jam packed loaded to the top with mistakes? Yowza! If you didn't grow up watching Tom Backer, Peter Davison and the rest of the classic Who's than maybe you didn't notice them, but I did, and now I'm watching the new series and there are so many mistakes!

And what's the deal with no body knowing his name and him acting like it's some big secret? Come on! Any long time Doctor Who fan knows his name is Fetasegma! Didn't the new writers ever watch the old series? Who writes this stuff? Well, I'm here to track down every mistake ever made and post them here on this lens. This lens may be under construction for the next 50 years, because I have 43 years of mistakes to list for you, starting with his name.

Doctor Who is named Fetasegma and we know this because he said so in episode 6 of the Key To Time.

The Biggest Mistake

The biggest mistake they made in the new series is in the episode Journey's End when there are two Doctors and one of them is supposed to be half human but in the old series he was already half human which is why he cant regenerate correctly.

The Doctors Companions

In the new series the Doctor asked his companions to come with him but in the old series he was getting mad at them all because they wouldn't stop following him.

The Sonic Screwdriver

In one of the old episodes the sonic screwdriver got blown up so how did he get a new one?

Another Sonic Screwdriver Mistake

The sonic screwdrivers were built by the Time Lords so how did Jack get a sonic canon and how did Miss Foster from the episode Partners in Crime get a sonic pen?

Where Did All the Daleks Come From?

Skaro was blown up in the Great Time War so were do they keep getting all the Dalekenium to build more Daleks?

The Eye of Harmony

In the the episode The Parting of the Ways when Rose looked into the Eye of Harmony it was in the Tardis control panel but in the movie it was in the cloister room but in the old series the cloister room was were the cloister bell was and it had plants hanging on the wall. In the movie when Lee looked into the Eye of Harmony nothing happened to him but in the episode The Parting of the Ways the time energy was going to kill Rose.

I Spy with My Little Eye... What Did You Spy?

Do you want to help me make this lens even better? You can help by posting any mistakes you've seen in the new series. I want them all! Every single one of them.

Have You Spotted Any Non Chronilogical Mistakes in the New Doctor Who, Which Disagree With the Old Doctor Who?

Yes! Lots of them!

muckpie says:

thay made if they made a live episode

Michael says:

First off it's TOM BAKER not Tom Backer.

The Doctor is a Timelord so he can build those sonic screwdrivers himself. As you have stated His tardis is huge and he has a workshop in it. So making one is just a little time consuming. As far as others having Sonic tech, what the Timelords are the only ones advancing tech? Eventually humans will have sonic devices given enough time.

Not sure where you got the idea he was half human. I have watched EVERY episode of the old series in fact I own them, but I have never even seen or heard any part of this.

If you pay attention in the episode where the Daleks are released from the tardis that they hid from the time war in. All those daleks were already made (Although one can't help but think that if these daleks weren't hiding they might have won the timewar.) Oh and Skaro was blown up WAAAAyyy before the timewar.

The eye of Harmony is/was on Gallifrey, it harnesses the power of a Blackhole created by the Timelords from a Supernova. It also sends power to each Tardis in operation. The thing you are referring to as the eye of harmony in the Tardis is the Control Console, it is right above the "heart" of the tardis. There have been many references to the tardis itself being alive, and it has and does have a mind of it's own, so when Lee looked in, the Tardis protected him. When Rose looked in, the Tardis knew what she was thinking and that she was willing to give her life to save the Doctor, so it empowered her. Now the real question you should be asking - If Gallifrey was destroyed in the Timewar how is the Doctor's Tardis still getting power? Also why is the Doctor's Tardis appearing so much smaller in the new series? In the old series it was nearly infinite space with thousands of coridors.

I'm not saying there aren't any mistakes, but you see mistakes where there are none if you were a true gallifreyian.

K9 says:

End of Time, President is Rasalon, well he died a long long time ago and is kind of stuck in limbo...All i can remember of rasalons appearance in the show is in the story arc, the 5 doctors, were he gave eternal life to the president and got stuck in his tomb...

EelKat says:

@Patty

You are right, I remember him saying it wouldn't open regular locks, and it was Tom Baker who said it. Can't remember which episode it was though... the one where he was dressed like Sherlock Holmes maybe?

and speaking of sonic devices: how do Sarah Jane get a sonic lipstick (in the Sarah Jane Adventure Series)

Patty says:

Since when did the sonic screw driver open up old fashioned locks? I could be wrong but I was almost certain that there were Tom Baker episodes where he specifically said it wouldn't work on that. Seems like Leela was in it and they were in a house in the country somewhere.......I'll have to find that episode.

EelKat says:

the sonic screwdriver didn't used to have a blue light on it

Nope, but I'll be looking for them now!

Not sure where you get the idea the Doctor is halfhuman, I have seen every old and new tv episode, the orignial movies and many of the audiobooks and never I have caught even a hint of such a thing.
As for the sonic screwdriver he made another, it's as simple as that. His Tardis (like all from gallifrey) is huge and we know from the original series with Tom Baker that it has a Lab and workshop. So he just used a little of his time to go down and make another, afterall he IS a Timelord and even though he didn't do as well as others in school he still has knowledge beyond many of them.
The Daleks from the original series were a. crashed to earth from the timewar as the one Rose first met. b. hidden in a stolen Tardis outside of time so were unaffected by the timewar. So new daleks were actually made (yet) and I believe Skaro was destroyed before the timewar.
As for the eye of Hamony it isn't IN the tardis, it powers it. The actual eye of harmony is on gallifrey again from the original series with Tom Baker, he had to stop the master from taking control of it with the rod of Rassalon, the great key and many other gallifreian artifacts. The thing you are referring to has been called in the past the Control Console and below that (the energy) is the heart of the Tardis The Tardis has it's own personality and many times has been referred to as being alive. So when Lee looked into it the Tardis protected him, but when Rose looked into it the Tardis sensed that she was willingly to give up her life to save the Doctor and it enpowered her. The "Time energy" as you call it is called Chronon Energy. The one question I want to know the answer to is - if Galifrey is gone, where is the Tardis getting it's power from and why doesn't it look all clean and white as it did in the original series? http://www.whoniverse.org/tardis/

I've noticed a whole bunch of mistakes from this current season. Is there a way I can forward them to the writers, maybe get them to be more watchful in the future? Does listing them here help or is this just where fans talk to each other?

I must admit ... I've not seen the old Dr. Who OR the new. So, what am I doing here? Well, I was going through NanT's list of 100 lenses that she visited in one day, and this one was on it. Regardless whether I've seen the show or not, though, I think it's pretty cool how you caught so many errors. What a neat idea for a lens. My brother was and is a Dr. Who fan, so now I'll be able to sound all smart and everything and see if he knows any of this.

I loved the old series with Tom Baker et al ... I watched on PBS when I could find it back in the 80's. My favorite doctor was the one with the long scarf who munched on jelly babies, and the 2 doctors who followed him. I remember I recorded on VHS the 25th anniversary show where the stones came alive. Probably still have it, now that I think about it. Nice job on this lens - although to be honest, when I saw the title, I thought it was going to be about those old mistakes like where you can see the feet under the daleks and goofy stuff like that. Still, story continuity errors are a good topic!

I hadn't noticed all the mistakes. Will have to ask the hubby about them as he grew up watching Dr Who and hiding behind the settee when the Daleks showed up.
