Anyone who has a dog that barks excessively will need some kind of dog barking control. This can be done through training your dog or through collars and devices. We will take a look at a few of your options.

Training Your Dog To Stop Barking

The first thing you should try to do is train your dog to stop barking. Most devices and collars work to varying degrees. Ultimately training makes for a more obedient dog anyways. A dog that obeys it's master is what you want.

In order to train your dog you need to find out what kind of barking your dog is doing and why. If your dog barks when your gone it may simply be separation anxiety. In that case you will need to work on the separation anxiety part. One of the best ways to get around that is to simply get another dog.

If your dog barks while it is outside all day it may simply be bored and have too much energy. To deal with that you will need to give your dog more exercise and toys it enjoys playing with. Hiring a dog walker may be a great option if you don't have enough time yourself.

As you can see these things can be much more simple then what you think. The hard part is getting your dog to follow your rules. It takes patience and time.

Collars And Devices

If you have exhausted all your options then you may want to consider a stop barking collar or device. I'm personally not all that crazy over shock collars, but they are an option for some.

There are two other options that you may want to consider instead.

Spray Collars: These collars simply detect when your dog is barking and then will spray a liquid in your dogs face. The liquid itself is fairly harmless. Not a bad option.

Tone Collars: These can also come devices. They detect when your dog barks and then make a noise that only your dog can hear.

The problem with collars is that they don't always work or only temporarily work. On top of that they can be used to harm a dog more then train it. Some owners may get carried away with the collar using it for every little bark that a dog makes.

Remember that dogs are vocal animals. It is okay if they bark some of the time.
