History of the Valentine Card
The first written valentine is attributed to a young Frenchman, Charles, Duke of Orleans. From his confinement in the Tower of London after the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, Charles fought his lonely confinement by writing romantic poems or rhymed love letters to his wife in France. About sixty of them remain. They can be seen among the royal papers in the British Museum.
In 1850, Esther Howland, an American printer and artist was among the first to publish and sell Valentines in the United States. In the early 1900's a card company named Norcross became one of the first companies to manufacture Valentines. With the exception of Christmas, Americans exchange more cards on Valentine's Day than any other time of year
Recipes to make Special Treats for your dogs!!

Homemade Doggie-licious Carob Treats
Ingredients:
1 cup peanut butter
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup milk
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 cup carob chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Beat eggs with peanut butter, then add milk and combine well.
In separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, and baking powder.
Combine the dry mixture with the peanut butter mixture. Mix well.
Stir in carob chips.
Drop by rounded teaspoons onto lightly greased cookie sheet, leaving about 1" in between cookies.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until biscuits look just barely "dry" in the middle and are baked through. Do not overbake! The biscuits will naturally harden as they cool.
Let cool before removing from cookie sheet.
Roll out dog cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1 cup boiling water
2 tsp. beef bouillon granules (optional)
1/3 cup melted margarine
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 tsp. granulated sugar
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup milk
1 whole egg, lightly beaten
3 cups (or a little more) whole wheat flour
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Place oats in bowl and pour boiling water on top. Stir in bouillon granules (if using). Mix and let stand 10 minutes.
To the oat mixture, add melted margarine, cornmeal, sugar, peanut butter, egg, and milk. Mix well.
Gradually add just enough flour to form a stiff dough.
Knead dough for several minutes until it is smooth and not sticky, adding flour as necessary.
Roll dough to 1/2" thickness & cut into shapes (bone or dog-shaped cookie cutters are nice, especially if you're planning to give away some biscuits as gifts. If you don't have cookie cutters, simply slice the dough into squares. The dogs won't mind!).
Place cookies 1/2" to 1" apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until golden (check on cookies in 30 minutes to make sure that the bottoms aren't browning too much).
Cool the cookies.
