From the lens My Dollhouse Full of Memories.

You are so lucky to have a photo of your dollhouse. I had one that was similar. That metal doll house took a beating over the years and held up. My little brother was pretty rough with it. I got my daughter one similar to it. My mother had paper dolls and I had some too. But I loved my doll house more than paper dolls. Those little pieces of furniture would show up in the oddest places over the years. Thanks for sharing this memory.

What a beautiful dollhouse! I remember as a child always longing for a beautiful dollhouse. I hope as the result of your lens that a little girl will receive a lovely dollhouse like this!

As one who appreciates the art of the doll, seeing your doll house here is beautiful. You are correct in that the importance of heart felt gift to a child.

My grandfather made a doll house for me. I loved it with all my heart. Sadly I never thought of taking pictures of it, and my mom threw it away when I went away to college. Great page!

Love your story . . . great lens. I have a similar picture of my first dollhouse that my uncle made. I need to scan it and post with my witchy dollhouse lens.

I didn't had a dolls house, but my father made two rooms connected to each other and I've spend hours playing with it. I still have got some furniture today, forty years later, in surprisingly good condition.

I use to love decorating with the furniture in a dollhouse.

You brought back some wonderful memories. I had a simple wooden dollhouse, but it was roomy enough for a lot of action. Also had the Barbie cabin....does that count? ;) 5*

I never had a dollhouse as a kid but I could see how this one would be adored.

My grandfather built me my very own doll house one Christmas and it was one of my most treasured gifts. I'm planning on passing it down to my daughter when she gets a little older. Great lens! I really enjoyed reading your story.

I always wanted a dollhouse, since I was the oldest with only brothers...I mostly got boy toys that could be handed down...very cool lens!
  • happynutritionist Aug 20, 2009 @ 7:15 pm | delete
I had a close friend who put together a magnificent dollhouse! So elegant, it was so popular to do about 20 or so years ago...I mean as adults, not just children...I wonder if it still is? This would be a nice add to the doll plexo on my Betsy Wetsy lens, please feel free to come over and add it if you like! Claudia

Love the story, and the lens. I never had one, but I made my daughter one from a kit and furnished it with furniture I made or bought. It was her favorite toy!

Lovely. My grandma gave me a gorgeous dolls' bungalow. Very heavy and solid. I wonder sometimes what happened to it.

What a wonderful story! It is clear that you were very special to your Cousin Edna and that she was very special to you!

Bev, you've got that right. After I went to bed last night I thought again about all she used to do for and with me. I had enough ideas for another lens, but at 3:30 AM I thought it was a bt late to start one, so I wrote the idea in my little book and went to sleep. Maybe today, if there's time.
  • BevsPaper Aug 18, 2009 @ 9:20 am | delete
Oh Barbara this is wonderful! Your cousin Edna sounds like a most wonderful woman. I'd say she was the best gift of all.

When my mom remarried we moved to my Stepfather's house where I discovered by first dollhouse. It too was filled with furniture. My sister and I played with it for years.

Melissa and Doug create the best toys. They are usually made of wood and meant to last for generations.

Thank you for sharing your memories.
