Don't punish your puppy dog. This is extremely important if you want your puppy to be comfortable while eliminating in your presence. If you are always punishing your puppy, he might get afraid to eliminate in your presence,which will make the puppy poty training that much harder. Punishing your pupy will only work when you catch him in the act. And even then you would be better off just picking up your puppy and taking it someplace you want it to eliminate.

2. Do praise your puppy
Do praise your puppy. Probably the most important of the 5 do's and don'ts of potty training for puppy dog. Puppies love attention, especially good attention. Which is why positive reinforcement works extremely well.
Praise your puppy dog whenever he eliminated where you want him to. This could be with treats, your voice, a toy or just by petting him. The more your puppy likes the reward, the harder he will try to get that reward again and again.

3. Do make a puppy potty schedule
Do make a schedule and follow it. It can take up to 6 months for a puppy to gain full bladder control. So it is important to keep this in mind during puppy potty training. Your puppy dog will need to eliminate when he wakes up, after every meal and after playing.If you're a scatter brain like me, you might need some electronic help to remind you of when you fed your puppy, or took him outside for a walk. I used my smartphone, set reminders at certain intervals. 4. Don't be inconsistent
Don't be inconsistent. Another very important don't of the do's and don'ts of potty training for puppy dog. Being consistent towards your puppy is one of the hardest parts of puppy training. Not being consistent will confuse your puppydog and slow down the puppy potty training.
5. Do clean up
Do clean up after your puppy dog had a little accident.Dogs have excellent smell, far better than humans. So make sure any accidents are thoroughly cleaned up. If not, your puppy will recognize the smell and think it's okay to eliminate in that spot again.
