Juno (Ellen Page) is a Mid-Western highschooler, who decides one day, out of boredom or curiosity, to have sex with her friend Bleeker (Michael Cera), a member of her school's track team. She likes him well enough, but isn't hung up on him. This one time encounter results in Juno's pregnancy. She and her best friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby) decide to take control of the situation by browsing for prospective adoptive parents in the local Pennysaver, and Juno settles on seemingly perfect, affluent couple Mark and Vanessa (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner.)

Juno Movie Best Review
After three viewings, I kind of feel like I have a crush on both "Juno" the movie and Juno the character. Not an obsession, by any means, but a crush. I'm poised halfway on the emotional scale between the bemused fatherly affection of Juno's extremely tolerant father (played by J.K. Simmons) and the wide-eyed wonder of Juno's pale boyfriend (Michael Cera).Juno herself -- a pipe comically clenched between her teeth and a bun in her oven, as they say -- is initially annoying but ultimately hard to resist. She's an eccentric charmer. "They call me the cautionary whale," she says, her belly large with child. (Is this why the movie is opening Christmas Day?)
"Juno" almost demands such a highly subjective, irrational response. As you might suspect, if you've read any of the hyperventilating feature stories about the movie's self-promoting young stripper-turned-novice screenwriter, who goes by the Tarantinoesque pen name of Diablo Cody, "Juno" is sometimes grating in its cleverness. The word "mouth" is never used when "gob" is available, and the film's smart-aleck teens use "honest to blog" and "Phuket, Thailand" as epithets.
The beginning of the movie is so overwritten you may have to restrain yourself from fleeing the theater, as 16-year-old Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page) exchanges banter with a convenience store clerk (Rainn Wilson) as she purchases yet another home pregnancy test. "Third time today, Mama Bear. Your eggo is preggo," the clerk says. "This is one doodle that can't be undid, home skillet." Responds Juno: "Silencio, old man!"
Really, now -- "silencio"? But like almost every awkward moment in "Juno," this one can be justified, if one is sympathetic to the characters and their creators. Maybe Cody isn't just placing an unlikely word into her heroine's mouth but is suggesting that Juno is a fan of David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive," which ends with an almost incantatory pronunciation of the Spanish word for silence.
Among its many virtues, "Juno" functions as an unintentional rebuttal to "Knocked Up," another film about an unexpected pregnancy, and "Superbad," another film about clever teenagers that starred Michael Cera. Products of the Judd Apatow comedy factory, those two films eventually redeem their heroes, but before their sweet conclusions they are vulgar, sometimes violent, porn-obsessed and relentlessly male-centric.....
