Dr.Seuss

Theodor Suss Geisel was born in 1904 and died in 1991. He was a writer and a cartoonist. He was well known for writing children's books under the name Dr.Suess. His pen name came from his father wanting him to be a Dr. He made a point not to write his stories with a moral in mind. He always said "children can see a moral from a mile off". He also said "theirs an inherent moral in any story".

Life magazine published a report saying children were not learning to read because they were getting bored, that's when Dr. Seuss decided to write his books so these children could learn through imagination.

Many of his books were thought to express views on a myriad of social and political views, although his books were all rhymes. The rhyming in his books are credited to his mother, who used to chant rhymes to soothe her children.

After his first book was published in 1954 he became an international success. Dr. Seuss was a one of a kind writer. To this day their is not other like him.
