- Hi,
I am greatful for this website, If it wasn't for this website I would probably be in Ukraine suffering the same way as many other patients. I have be suffering from Bow-legs for all I can remember, it has bothered me all my life. I have not been able to wear what I want, do what I want in most cases I would get tired very soon when my legs were bent. The first time I decided to research the matter the only information I was able to find on line was about the Dr in Ukraine. And, surly I contacted them via email and they got back to me asap. The information they provided was very brief and I felt as if they are selling something. I will never forget when at first I was asking questions about the procedures they were offering me the different types of rooms they have available and the prices. As if Im checking into a hotel. Also, I noticed in the email, they were not professional and not a toll free number was not available. So, right from the start I had a freaky feeling about the clinic. That's when I told myself, "before you jump into conclusions research." And, that's exactly what I did! Im thankful to god I found the information in this site. I have spoke to the owner of this site and have been in contact with him for about 7 months. He is truly a girft to all of us. He has been through so much, but yet he is trying to help others from going through what he did. His situation is very unfortunate and hopefully one day he will be able to reverse what that awful Dr. did to him. Long story short, the owner of this site helped me find a real Dr, in florida. I had my surgery about 3 weeks ago. I still have my fixators on and will have them on for about 3 months. Im not going to lie the process is no joy ride but I am under the best Dr in the World!! Thanks to this site and only this site. Please those of you who are considering to go to Ukraine please please think it through. The only reason I stress this is because I was in the same situation. I was to considering Ukraine, I was desperate. thanks to God I made the right choice and thanks to this website. I WILL ALWAYS BE THANKFUL.

I´m also a pretty concerned since I´haven´t found a good doctor in The U.S. so far that can help me correct my bow-legs problem. You mentioned going to a Dr. in Florida. I would like to know if it went well and if so can you share with me his info. so I can contact him or her? I hope that you can get back to me asap...

Skeptic of ALL Doctors who Think They are GOD
Mar 1, 2011 @ 1:23 pm | delete
- I agree wholeheartedly with those who have stated that your warnings here are very heroic and in the interests of everyone in the future who may be seeking surgical repair of their leg deformities. Having genu valgum (knock knees), I too had searched online and found Dr. Veklich's website. I did e-mail them and heard from both of the employees you mentioned. The price was ghastly expensive, however, and I could not afford it first of all, but second of all I did have SERIOUS concerns about traveling not just out of country but to a war-torn, third world place such as the Ukraine. Seriously, you just confirmed all of my worst nightmares about what it would have been like! I am terribly sorry that S.K. had to learn this the hard way and I cannot imagine how devastating it must be to be left dealing with the consequences of Dr. Veklich's incompetence from a very long distance! I do applaud you HEARTILY for putting this up. You have every right to tell your story and warn people about the disastrous outcome that could be awaiting them. Thank you and may God provide you with the healing you should have gotten the first time.

- Hi everyone.
I have talked to SK (the author and owner of this forum) twice via voice chat using Skype and I believe that his terrifying story about Ladisten clinic is indeed very true.
I would recommend that those who are concerned about this problem to have a voice chat with him. He's able to share with anyone all the important and useful links, websites and of course offer plentiful of helpful advice and information regarding leg deformation conditions.
In my opinion, try your best not to consider going to a foreign country for a surgery like this because if the surgery is done in our own country, legal actions
can be taken against the personnel who are held accountable for any malpractices or abuses during the course of the surgery. However, things would be far more complex once they transcend international borders and laws that apply in our own countries might not be effective in another country. So, the risks associated with this surgery becomes dramatically larger if you do it in a foreign country. However, if this surgery is inaccessible in your own country for whatever reasons, having this surgery done in another country would seem like the only option that is available. If this is the case, make sure the surgeon, the medical centre or the hospital that offers this surgery have a reputation in this field. Do not judge a surgeon or hospital's reputation solely from the before and after photos of the patients as that maybe deceiving.
For those who find the 'lizarov-Veklich' device (as shown on the website of Ladisten Clinic) appealing, please think again. Note that this so-called 'Ilizarov-Veklich' device is not to be confused with the classical or original Ilizarov apparatus which was invented by Dr Gavriil Ilizarov many years ago. The 'Ilizarov-Veklich' device is a name coined specifically by Dr Veklich himself or by Ladisten clinic for this so-called device that can fix deformities better and has a much smaller size compared to the classical Ilizarov apparatus and is thus less intimidating. But let's think about it for a minute, if the 'Ilizarov-Veklich device' (not to be confused with the classical ilizarov apparatus) is so successful and can be considered a breakthrough device, why isn't it being used or implemented nationwide or worldwide already ? In fact, the true methods that are usually used for leg-deformities corrections and limb lengthening are usually the classical Ilizarov and the Taylor Spatial Frame aka TSF methods.
However, the cumbersome size of the original ilizarov apparatus is there for a reason. This apparatus has to be big and strong enough to support your body weight while your leg bones are healing and growing after the corrective surgery. Try asking your local orthopaedic surgeons in the field of leg-deformities correction or limb-lengthening about the 'Ilizarov-Veklich device' (again, not to be confused with the original ilizarov apparatus). I doubt that they have heard of this device, let alone know much about its efficacy and mechanisms.
check out the responses on this link: http://www.topix.com/forum/med/orthopaedic-surgery/T5FHNCKPG8ALJ0454
Medical experts around the world often attend conferences related to their own fields to
have open discussions and keep themselves updated with the latest advancements in their specialized fields of interest. If other doctors do not know of the practice of Dr Veklich, well, I think chances are, Dr Veklich does not share the info and knowledge of his practice that he has with other doctors. This means that there's no other person who can perform this surgery using the 'Ilizarov-Veklich device' other than Dr Veklich himself. So, let's say if for whatever reasons Dr Veklich isn't available, no one is able to take over his work or replace him. My point is that, are you willing to take such a big risk, to be operated by a doctor using a method that is only limited to himself alone, which no other doctors can take over should anything go wrong ?
Again, it would be to the benefit of everyone who's interested in this issue to contact the author of this forum and have further discussions with him. Better yet, have a live voice chat with him and find out for yourselves as much facts as you can. I would like
to emphazise that there's no easy way out to deal with this problem of leg bone deformities. However, do not give up hope as there's always hope and the solutions would come once you have done enough research and made the correct decisions.
For those who are looking for local surgeons who perform this surgery, try Googling (or use any other search engines) "ilizarov technique" or "Taylor Spatial Frame" followed by the name of your country. Chances are, you might just stumble upon a hospital or
medical centre or surgeon that does perform this surgery. All the best and stay strong !

- Hi,
First I want to thank you for all the the information you continue to provide me with via email. Your answers to my many question are always helpful and have given me a much better understanding of my bow legged condition and what corrective surgery entails.
Dr. Veklich sounds like a nightmare of a doctor and you are doing many people a huge service by exposing this through your story. I am sure that people will now reconsider doing any type of procedure with him.
Thank you for referring me to the doctor I am now seeing in NY!
I hope that you will only need to re-operate on the left leg and that all this pain will be a thing of the past for you shortly.
I'll keep you posted as always through email :)

- Hi! I just sent you a personal email and then did a further search and found your site. I am so sorry for your pain and all you've gone through. I know how it feels to have been operated on by a quack. He didnt know what he was dealing with and did a really bad job. I had really bad bow legs and now my legs are still bow but worse than that, my tibia is all messed up because the legs were broken in the wrong part - my shin and fussed badly.
I went to ladisten last week to meet the good Dr by myself. I didnt feel quite right, he didnt offer to introduce me to patients staying at the clinic nor was Victoria willing to give out contact details for western patients with complex problems who had had successful surgery. I'm still shopping around. Do you know where the best doctors are? Who ended up fixing your problems? How are you doing now? Looking forward to hearing from you. You've got my personal email address. Best regards,
