Dr. Whitcomb's Fibromyalgia Treatment - He's a Fraud!

Feedback from former patients about his book and treatment

I was keen on going to Dr. Whitcomb's fibromyalgia treatment clinic in Tahoe, California for treatment. They claim that for every 10 people that do their (approx) 8 week treatment protocol, 8 or 9 get well. So I was all set to jump on a plane and put myself further into debt in the hopes of regaining my health. But first, I decided to see if I could find some objective feedback from people who have been to his clinic on the internet, so I googled his name. I was led to the Amazon web site where his book is sold. In the customer review section, I found 5 reviews written by people who had gone to his clinic and spent thousands of dollars and were either no more improved or they were worse after receiving his treatment. I notified Dr. Whitcomb's office to tell them of my disappointing findings, and within two hours they had the comments removed from the Amazon website! He then had a relative (same family name) post a glowing comment about the book. I was very upset that he had the negative comments removed, not only because people have a right to freedom of speech, but because other unsuspecting individuals with fibromyalgia might take the same avenue that I almost took, had I not discovered this information.

Fortunately, I copied and saved the comments before they were erased as I had suspected that he might try to have the damaging comments removed. Here they are:

DON'tT BUY!! False Promises- Ex-Patient I know the truth!!!!, March 23, 2007
Reviewer: Hopes & Dreams "ilakesh" (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews

I wouldn't spend a penny on this book. I was a patient and he promised a lot of things that he never followed through on. He comes across very sincere and empathetic to what you are going through but that's as far as it goes. He's manipulated testimonies and has kept things posted when as patients we have asked for them to be removed and he refuses. I spent several months with him going through his treatments in Tahoe and have had NO success what so ever. I've lost thousands of dollars and precious time with my family for the hope and dream of being relieved of all this pain, to come home and be the same. Take great caution in what you read and what you hear from him. He promises something he can not give.

Just stating what others have; please do not be confused about this book's contents and facts or promises. I was also a patient and am still paying the price of enduring his treatments not to mention the heartache of the entire ordeal. And to those with fibromyalgia and other chronic pain issues; my sincere warmth and real compassion goes out to you. Anyone can write books now and that is why without getting in trouble ourselves we must try to at least help others by speaking truth. Don't give up looking; just be very cautious of what we read is my theory. And I, too wish Amazon would give a 0 rating star......as this would have been mine too.

not solving the mystery, March 14, 2007
Reviewer: mimi - See all my reviews

I went to the clinic and wasn't helped by the treatment and it was very expensive. Other patients who were there at the same time and that I later contacted have steadily been getting worse so I don't think that Dr. Whitcomb knows what fibromyalgia is or how to treat it. If there were an option for not giving a star, that is what I would choose for this book.

FIBROMYALGIA SUFFERS BEAWARE, March 3, 2007
Reviewer: Shane - See all my reviews

I have endured a life of Fibromyalgia and have researched and experienced numerous types and methods of treatment. I am a former patient of Dr. Whitcomb and his suggested method of treatment. Therefore, I can attest that I was not cured of my symptoms nor was my condition at all improved from his treatment. I have kept in contact with several other patients of Dr. Whitcomb's and they also state that they either didn't benefit from his treatment or didn't have lasting results or relief from their symptoms.
Please be cautious of books that promise miracle cures.

Finally, an appropriate forum to discuss Dr. Whitcomb and his methods made available by Dr. Whitcomb himself.

Having experienced Dr. Whitcomb's treatment myself, I can tell you high neck manipulations can cause a stroke. Luckily, that didn't happen to me. I spent several thousand dollars at his 'clinic' and received no relief whatsoever. Actually, I got worse. I saw several people get worse, but they can vouch for themselves, and will as soon as I contact them. Why the chiropractic board hasn't revoked his liscence I'll never know. I have no idea what he's doing now, but I wouldn't try it under any circumstances.

Upper cervical injuries can cause fibromyalgia, but there's actual upper cervical chiropractors that can correct it safely and quickly. Dr. Whitcomb isn't one of them. Check out [...] for more information.

BE SURE TO RESEARCH AND GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT. If you are too sick or too weak, (I hope and wish you well) Perhaps you can ask a close friend or family to help you with this. Please I, with all sincere heart recommend for you to truly research. Lies are being spread and people are committing suicide because of lost hope. The doctor's at the Fibromyalgia Relief Center are saving lives. Don't let the others steal your hope. Many are truly well and this could be you too. They never promised a cure and they can help with your endometriosis too. It's a miracle what other patients with endometriosis and fibro can testify to. People come in wheelchairs and leave walking and dancing. Call and ask for past people to talk to and you will hear the truth. Don't just take their word. There are statistics and research studies available. Don't throw away what could be your one last hope.Several times over and over people were treated for free because they have a heart to help & care.

I am thrilled with my treatment from Dr. Whitcomb. It has been five years since my treatment in Tahoe and I am still going strong. I thank God every day for letting me find him!

Nanell and Susan have to be honest. The majority of patients treated by Dr. Whitcomb are still sick. There is nothing worse than false hope. Yes, most people improved after 8-12 weeks and spending thousand of $$'s, but relapsed after returning home. Now they are both sick and broke.

After receiving 10 wks of treatment this spring, I am 80% better! Not every medication or treatment works as expected for everyone. I am proof that this treatment works! Am I 100% better? no. But, if you have fibro you will agree that 80% is GREAT! Be encouraged.
