Babies Spit-up: A Fact of Life

When babies are born they have to adjust to eating by mouth, finish developing, and adjust to air intake. When babies eat, they suckle to consume their nourishment. Sucking is not a perfect science. Babies tend to suck in air with their milk. The air needs to be expelled and that is a portion of where spit-up comes from.

Try as you might, until your baby learns to eat without sucking in air, and their digestive tract is finished developing, you will be forced to deal with spit-up.

Some instances of spit-up are reminiscent of the scene from "The Exorcist", when Linda Blair expelled her bodily fluids. When I had my second baby, I felt I was dealing with Linda Blair in some instances. My poor little one spit-up so much when she was nursing I did not think she was getting any nourishment. I expressed my concerns to our pediatrician and she suggested I express my milk and bottle feed.

I did as she said and still the spit-up persisted. The pediatrician suggested I try switching bottles. I tried a variety of styles with no luck until I came across Dr. Brown's Baby Bottles.

Dr. Brown's Baby Bottles have unlocked the secret code to the virtual elimination of baby spit-up.
