Einstein On Compound Interest (Rule Of 72)
Albert Einstein considered compound interest to be the ninth wonder of the world. He was also credited with popularizing compound interest by introducing this simple mathematical equation.
Rule 72
72 divided by interest rate return = # of years it takes for your money to double. For example:
Lets say that you had a $100 and you were earning 10% interest, then all you would have to do is take the number 10 and divide it into the number 72. So it would look like this.
10 divided into 72 = 7.2
It would take 7.2 years for your $100 to become $200.
If you were earning 6%
6 divided into 72 = 12
It would take 12 years for your $100 to become $200
and now 4%
4 divided into 72 = 18
It would take 18 years for your $100 to become $200
and so on.
If you're earning 1% interest on your savings account:
1 divided into 72 = 72
It would take 72 years for your $100 to become $200
By the way, the Rule of 72 applies to anything that grows, including population.
It also can be used for anything that is declining , as long as you know the % rate it is declining at.
Ok, so lets talk more about Rule 72, and compounding interest.
The banks and large corporations use compounding interest to increase profits everyday. How do they do it?
Take your credit cards for instance. If you pay 15% interest on your credit cards, the amount you owe will double in only or 4.8 years!
15 divided into 72 = 4.8
No wonder they are constantly sending everyone credit cards in the mail, and all of the large corporations are starting their own credit bureaus.
Then add late charges on top of that and they're make'n some serious cash.
I think Einstein said it best when he said:

Now my question is this? If it is considered the greatest mathematical discovery of all time and the ninth wonder of the world by one of the greatest minds in the world and the banks and the largest corporations in the world use it to increase their profits everyday, don't you think it would be important for us to know about it, and how it works?
Then why on earth are we not taught this valuable lesson in school?
Could it be that they just don't want us to know?
