e-Sword New Modules Notice Page
I am not actively making e-Sword modules (except by special requests), and I am now dedicating my resources to making TheWord modules. It is all around a better program. Please read my side by side comparison of the two programs here.http://www.thewordmodules.com/compareesword.html.
Note as of March 13, 2010 - First of all, I had a hard disk crash and almost lost everything on my computer. Thanks to our Lord, He apparently didn't want that, and I recovered the hard disk after clunk, clunk, clunk, whirl, blue screen. Pretty much impossible to recover from that. I had to purchase an internal and an external hard drives to backup and to replace my bad drive. In copying everything into a single place, I found a lot of files that are e-Sword, and over the next month or so I will be updating my e-Sword site and perhaps posting some new modules. Since I have them, I will update my pages.
If you are considering changing from e-Sword to TheWord, I am working on putting the Pulpit Commentary into the Word format. Go to the project page to follow this project.
www.squidoo.com/PulpitCmtTWM.
This page is a notice page for new e-Sword Modules. Notice that for e-Sword news history page, see this page http://www.davidcox.com.mx/e-swordmodules/esnews.html.
Please note that squidoo.com has an RSS feed link to each page somewhere on the right hand column. Set that up on your RSS feed aggregator and check it regularly or automatically.
To get the E-Sword Bible Program, go to Rick Meyer's site http://www.e-sword.net/index.html.
I maintain a library of Free downloadable religious books, most all are out of copyright. Please go to my personal website to visit my online library of 800 pdf files. http://www.davidcox.com.mx/library/library.htm
Please note that the new policy of Rick Meyers is that he has set up his site to refuse direct links into his files. I have written him about my links into his site, and his answer was that it is an illegal practice. Therefore all modules which are hosted by Rick will be removed from my website unless I find them elsewhere on the Internet. You should simply check with e-Sword.net to see if there are new modules. I have no control over this, and even though the files are there, any direct links to it will not work. If this is inconvenient to you, send Rick a donation with the complaint attached.
For this reason and many more, I have switched to TheWord free Bible program (www.theword.gr). See below.
New E-Sword Modules as of October 2011
Last Updated on October 20, 2011
- Walvoord, J.F. - Person and Work of Christ
- In this work Walvoord explores the Person and Work of Christ. He begins with the Incarnation, and then the person of Christ, and then the earthly life of Christ. Then he begins with the ministry of Christ, and the general topic of the humiliation of Christ. Next he treats the Impeccability of Christ, his suffering and death, redemptin, Propitiation, reconciliation, and Christ's resurrection.
- Walvoord, J.F. - The Person of the Holy Spirit
- In this longer work by Walvoord, he examines the person (personality) of the Holy Spirit. First he devels into the teaching of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, then in relation to the Person and Work of Christ. Then His relationship with the unsaved work, Salvation, and then in the believer. He has a final chapter on the eschatology of the Holy Spirit.
- Walvoord, J.F. - The Nations in Prophecy
- This is a longer work by Walvoord on the place of the nations in Bible prophecy. He investigates the situation of the nations, their origin, world history, Babylon, Medes and Persians, Greece, Rome, various kings mentioned, and the final confederacy confronted by the second coming of Christ in Armageddon. Then he explains the judgment of the nations, and what happens to them during the Millennium and in the eternal state. Finally he focuses specially on America in prophecy.
- Ingersoll, R.G. - About the Holy Bible
- In this 12 chapter work by Ingersoll (atheist) presents some of his thoughts on the Bible. Although Ingersoll, friend of Walt Whitman, is an unbeliever, I think that his thoughts need to be answered by believers because they are not good representations of truth. I thought about not posting this work, but in reality, his lies need to be revealed and refuted. His chapters are origin of the Bible, is the OT inspired? the ten commandments, what is it all worth? was Jehovah a God of Love? Jehovah's administration, the New Testament, the philosophy of Christ, is Christ our example? why should we place Christ at the top and summit of the human race? inspiration, the real Bible.
- Gordon, S.D. - Quiet Talks on the Crowned Christ of Revelation
- In this 8 chapter book Gordon (Congregationalist) presents us with Christ as He appears after he is crowned and presented to us in Revelation. His chapters are the Christ crowned the fact, the Crown book, a sight of the crowned Christ, a message from the crowned Christ, an Advanced step in the Royal Programme, a clearing up storm in the realm, the crowned Christ reigning, and watching the horizon.

John Flipse Walvoord's Books
These are freely available.
- Walvoord, J.F. - Christ's Olivet Discourse on End of Age
- n this work by Walvoord, he examines the end time events by exposing the prophecies being fulfilled in our day, the signs of the end time events, addressing the question of how close is the Lord's return, then he examines the parable of the Ten Virgins, the Talens and the Judgment of the Nations.
- Walvoord, J.F. - The Thessalonian Epistles.
- In this work, Walvoord examines the two epistles to Thessalonica. This commentary is specifically with a view to the eschatology of these epistles. He begins with salvation in relation to the coming of the Lord, serving the coming of the Lord, unblamable in holiness, the Rapture (Translation) of the church. The Day of the Lord, the Man of sin, and other topics.
- Walvoord, J.F. - Matthew Thy Kingdom Come
- n this work Walvoord examines at some length the Gospel of Matthew. This book has 30 chapters, and examines critical points in the Gospel.
- Walvoord, J.F. - Millennial Series
- These are about 30 different studies on the millennium by John Walvoord. He investigates different positions on the millennium (postmil, amil, and premil) as well as the Abrahamic covenant, the promises to David, issues with Israel, the Church, Pretribulationism, partial rapture, posttrib, and midtrib.
These articles were a series in Bibliotheca Sacra from 1949-1956. The last seven articles didn't include the "Millennial Series: Part #. It looks like they renamed the series "Premillennialism and the Tribulation" and Part 3 of that series continues where the Millennial Series leaves off. - Walvoord, J.F. - Person of the Holy Spirit
- The Return of the Lord
- In this work, Walvoord examines with us the Second Coming. He gives an overview Christ's return, the imminent translation of the Church (the Rapture), and the Seventieth week of Daniel. He addresses the question, will the Church go through the Tribulation? He also addresses Israel's fate, whether God will use Israel as He did in the past, or will He forever forsake Israel. This is the future restoration of Israel. He then addresses the divine judgments, and the future of Communism according to the Bible. Finally he addresses the issue of peace in our day.
- Walvoord, J.F. - The Holy Spirit at Work Today
- This is shorter work of only 6 chapters dealing with the ministry or work of the Holy Spirit: revealing truth, spiritual renewal, life of holiness, spiritual gifts, and spirit-filled life. Even though the work is short, he hits the principle work of the Spirit.
- Walvoord, J.F. - The Person and Work of Christ
- The Present Work of Christ
- In this 8 chapter work by Walvoord, he begins by discussing the ascension of Christ, and then addresses the universal Lordship of Jesus Christ. After these two introductory chapters, he examines Christ present activity in heaven on our behalf for 5 chapters, and then a final chapter on Christ's present work on the Earth.
- Walvoord, J.F. - The Revelation of Jesus Christ
- This is a standard commentary on the Book of Revelation. Walvoord examines and explains all the passages in the book. Excellent work.

This page compares the features of e-Sword and TheWord side by side. Read this and you will leave e-Sword for TheWord. No question about it!
Overall view of the two Programs
Both programs are free, and work basically the same. e-Sword has had a lot of interface problems for a long while now, while have not been fixed even though numerous versions have come and gone. Most of these types of problems are resolved beautifully in THEWORD.
(1) e-Sword has no graphics in its modules except a map module which has 1 single graphic per chapter. TheWord has graphics anywhere except Bibles.
(2) e-Sword has no searching across modules, only within a single module. TheWord has a universal search which searches everything except Bibles.
(3) theWord has a Bible search that is awesomely more powerful that e-Sword. It uses Boolean searches, RegEx, etc.
(4) theWord has Module Layout sets where you can restrict what theWord sees, presents and searches to a certain set of modules.
(5) theWord has a detect all verse references that can be set to automatic. e-Sword you have to highlight 1 single verse reference, and then convert it one at a time.
(6) theWord has a very good detecting routine for detecting verse references. e-Sword is locked on its own format or it won't read it.
(7) theWord has the possibility of making footnotes or page jumps within a module to see another place in the same or other modules (like a Bible tooltip popup, but within any module). These can be seen as tooltips.
(8) theWord allows multiple windows of Bible modules, dictionary modules, commentary modules, or Book modules to be similtaneous onscreen, i.e. read one book and write in another.
(9) theWord has a USB memory mode that is all self contained in the USB memory stick.
(10) theWord has the ability to create and work on modules from within the same program.
(11) theWord has a straight ASCII text Bible format.
