What is E-learning?

E-learning or electronic learning is a type of education that uses computer technology as the medium of instruction. Unlike traditional education, there will be no in-person interaction that may take place. Elearning solution is used interchangeably in a wide variety of contexts.E-learning in companies refers to the strategies that use company's network to deliver training courses to employees. It is defined as a planned teaching and learning experience that uses technology, mainly the Internet or other computer based tools to provide education to people at a distance.

Advantages of Elearning 

1. Accessibility - With the help of the Internet, companies can now have a solution to their education and training objective. With the advancement of technology, companies can now easily distribute training and other important information to multiple locations. Employees can now access training materials at their convenience at office or at home.

2. Lower cost - Because training materials and tools can be access anywhere, even at home, employees and companies can save more money due to the elimination of travel expenses. Companies don't need to hire trainers and consultants.

3. Can provide a less intimidating environment - People who are taking the course are free to try everything that they want. They can make mistakes without exposing their selves to other people. This is good a good learning experience for them. They can learn from their mistakes and can go back to correct them without a feeling of embarrassment.

Level of E-learning 


  • Knowledge database - This can be seen on software sites that offer indexed explanations and guidance for software questions.


  • Online Support - This type of elearning comes in the form of forums, chat rooms or live instant messaging support. It can provide immediate answers to more specific questions


  • Asynchronous training - This is an elearning type that involves self-paced learning, either CD-ROM based, network based, or internet based. It may include access to instructors through online bulletin boards or emails. Sometimes it contains links to other reference materials.


  • Synchronous training - This training is done in real-time with a live instructor. This usually takes place over the Internet using video conferencing.
