Hi all, I hope to share with you my love for art. I also will share my knowledge and help for others who would like to learn to make fractal art and Photo manipulations.Here I will also post some of my art that is for sale and links to other shops that have gorgeous work as well.

The Best Fractal Software

At least in my opinion

When I first started creating fractal art, I used apophysis. I found it to be a little confusing and I did not really like the results I was getting. Then a friend told me about Ultrafractal, at first I downloaded the trial just to check out the GUI and I was very pleased at what I saw. So after my purchase,I did the tutorials that came with the software.I was addicted!! The designs you could get with the different formulas was just amazing. I mainly just messed around, tried different things, sometimes I would get a great image other times I would scrap the whole thing.But it did not matter the journey alone was so exciting, when I would get a new look, learn a new trick it was great. For anyone who is wanting to learn how to do fractals I think the best program to start out with is Ultrafractal. It has a very pleasant look, it has great tutorials and help files. It is very easy to use. You can also find many tutorials and resources on Deviant Art to help you get started. You can also take Janet Parkes classes at the Visual Arts Academy online.The link for the classes is below in my Hot Links!!I am on the second class now and it is a blast.

Free Fractal Software

Still Good choices!!

Well if you can not afford to purchase Ultrafractal, there are some free programs out there to get you started.

Apophysis is a good program, besides Ultrafractal it is one of the most popular fractal generators. The big bonus it is free, you can not beat that :) You can download it here Apophysis

Chaoscope is a windows based fractal generator created by Nicolas Desprez. The current freeware program is 0.3.1 and can be found here Chaoscope

If you google free fractal software more freeware will come up. I myself have never used any of them. But I think for free they are all worth a try.

I learned Fractals!!

So what now :)

Well I know some people are thinking,I got the software, I took the classes, whats next? Well first with fractal art there is no end to what you can make. keep practicing and getting better. Now the next steps I would and you could take.

1. Join an artist community.
You can join an artist community to share your work get feedback and start your online gallery. There are so many communities online that are great. I of course have my personal favorite's. I joined Deviant Art. Here you will find a great bunch of artist. They offer help when you need it. You can join groups join in on the forum and even sell your work. I warn now this is very addicting.Here is a list of some communities you can join.

4.WetCanvas

You can also join some POD (Print On Demand)store's. They allow you to sell you work.While they do all the printing and shipping and you get a percent of every sell.This is not a bad way to go for people who can not afford to print them and sell them on your own. here are a couple stores to consider.

1.Zazzle
2.Cafepress

If you can afford to sell on your own that would be great! Then you will not have to share your earning with anyone. You could also put your work on a cd and sell it on Ebay so people can use it for wallpapers on their computer.

Most important if you want to sell your art online is to advertise. You can use Myspace, blog about your work. Join communities, forums, put a link to your shop in your signature. Send it to family and friends and ask them to pass it along.

Cafepress Vs Zazzle

Which will you choose?

I have had a shop at both Cafepress and Zazzle. I personally choose Zazzle and I will tell you why.Zazzle gives you so much more for free. You are not limited to how many designs you can make, like on Cafepress for a free shop. Now don't get me wrong I never had a pay store at Cafepress we are onlytalking about the free experience here.

1.They offer a free shop
2.They are Print on demand
3. They have a great selection of products to put your designs on.
4.They mange all the returns and sales of the purchased items.
5.They offer customer service.
6.They send you monthly checks for your earnings.

Now I know what your thinking well what is wrong with that. Nothing, they offer a lot of great things. The one and biggest drawback of having a free cafepress shop is that you can only make one of each product. So lets say you make a design and you put it on a coffee mug, that is the only mug you can make. I figure most people have hundreds of designs, so you will not be able to properly show off what you have. This is why I choose Zazzle.

3.They also have a great selection of products to put your designs on.
4.They mange all the returns and sales of the purchased items.

6.They also send you checks or you may use paypal.
7.You can make as many of one type of product as you wish.

Zazzle I feel is the better choice for the free shop, you can design so many more items, more items means you have a better chance of selling.Your customers can customize their purchases. So If I make a greeting card I can add my design and leave the rest blank so that the customer can add their own words to it.Every item is customizable.

Zazzle is also very easy to use, for the designer and the customer. I suggest the best way for anyone to really know is to try them out. It is free and you can close your shop at either one if you are not satisfied.

To wrap this up my choice is Zazzle, I feel they give so much more control and items to their store owners. Very user friendly and a great community of artist to help and share your love for art with.
