Buying Animal Gifts Instead Of Live Animals For Easter

Every year during Easter many people buy their children and other family members "Easter pets" such as baby rabbits, ducks, and chicks. While some people keep these animals and care for them like they are supposed to, many of these pets are given away or abandoned when they get older.

Kritters In The Mailbox encourages you to be responsible this Easter holiday. Instead of buying live animals as gifts, consider these alternative options.

While it may seem like a good idea at the time, giving live animals as gifts can end up being a burden on the owner and the animal itself.

Many people buy baby rabbits, chicks, and ducks during Easter time because of their cute appearance and their small size. These animals eventually grow up and show less desired characteristics, which prompts their owners to get rid of them. This takes up the time and energy of the owner, and causes unnecessary stress for the animal.

Before you give somebody an animal you should make sure that they want an animal. Remember that most animals live at least a couple of years, and some live much longer. The person who is receiving the animal should be ready to commit and they should be aware of all the responsibilities associated with owning an animal.

Giving gifts like stuffed animals is much easier, and in most cases these kinds of gifts will last much longer.
