The Many Choices of Living Green Can be Frustrating... But Worth It!

In this day and age we all have many choices to make... Family, Friends, Where to live, Where to work, What to eat and What to buy are just a few.

Long, long ago I made the choice to live a green life. My love for my Family, Nature and the Earth is a very important part of my existence. I have a need to be a good steward of this Great Green Earth. To help preserve it so our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren can enjoy it for many generations to come.

To do this I had to make some very important choices about products to use that will help this world stay green and keep my family safe. Organic & Environmentally safe products are out in the market place. It is just a matter of finding them. Finding manufacturers that promote sustainability also plays a big part in my decisions as to whom I would purchase these products from.  It takes some time to do your research and find the right products and the right pricing.

Living Off The Grid...

Do it yourself Solar and Wind Power

DIY Solar and Wind Power Can Help You Reduce Your Energy Bill by Up To 80%

The shortage of power, the rapid consumption of non-renewable energy, the ever-increasing demand for power supply, the daily warnings about our environment are enough signs to tell us that it's time we do something...
So, what can we do? For starters, how about living off the grid? If I have startled you with that proposition, let me tell you that living off the grid not only helps the environment and helps save power; it also cuts down our electricity bill substantially. Now, that's a tangible benefit apart from all the good you will do to the world. Trust me, you will feel good doing this.

Let us first study the advantages of living off the grid.

1.Reduced dependability on exhausting resources: Who wants to depend on public utilities all the time? Living off the grid helps you rely only on your resources and not the ones supplied by governments or corporations. How often have you cursed when faced with a power outage in the midst of some important work or a party? Wouldn't you like to take charge of such factors affecting you life? With alternate power solutions, you can.

2.Freedom of usage of naturally available resources: How would you feel when you don't have to pay for the power you use? Wouldn't it be delightful to use as much power as you want without worrying about the electricity meter? You can make use of the abundant power available in the nature to light up your home and make your food. The solar power solutions and the wind power solutions are the answers to your power quest (well, literally!).

3.Reduced power costs, helping save your money: How would you feel if the electricity bills stop coming in your letter box? The alternate power solutions give you a return on investment very soon, thus making the power supply to your home eventually free!

4.Making way for a healthier environment: Don't you bless the people who planted trees years ago not expecting them to miraculously grow? They planted those trees for the future generations. Make the future of your future generations secure by giving them a greener, healthier world. Cut down on the usage of non-renewable sources of energy. Try to use water minimally. There is not much drinking water left for the next generations.

If you are thinking it is not very feasible to live off the grid, look for alternate power solutions and you will be surprised to learn that they are not only cost-effective but also extremely feasible.

This year we bought this ebook about how to Make power at home with solar and wind energy to eliminate your power bill. It's awesome, and your Average Joe do-it-yourself'er can put one of these systems together for less that $200. It pays for itself in no time and also helps the earth stay greener!

The Pro's and Con's of Being Green...

It takes some extra work to live green.

Recycling is kind of a pain. Having different boxes to sort out your recycleable garbage in before you just throw it in the trash, can be time consuming. I'm lucky, I have trained my 4 children and husband well! There are still times that I have to police the trash but hey...what do you expect? Perfection? Ha...Ha... not with a house full of kids.

We sort out Cardboard, Paper, Plastic, Glass, aluminum cans & Food Scraps (to make organic compost for the garden). By the time you do all of that, there isn't much left! It saves on the garbage bill, thats for sure! Best of all it saves the earth.

We use Compact Flourescent Bulbs in all of our light fixtures to save on energy. They may cost more than regular bulbs but will last longer and save you money on your electric bill every month.

We use Green Household Cleaning products because it is safer for our children, pets, and the environment. They are just as effective as the harsh chemicals that are on the market today and comparable or even less expensive!

We use Organic Solutions for controlling insects and weeds in the yard, and obviously we grow as much of our own food as possible. All in all, we actually save money doing all of this which is a plus. The food bill is much less than it would be if we were to buy all organic food in the market, but even that is becoming more and more popular. Many of the major supermarkets are responding to the need to have an organic selection in the store. When we buy products we look to make sure they use recycled and/or renewable resources for packaging.

So I guess you could say "It's Not Easy Being Green", but in the long run making the effort to keep the world clean and green is worth it to us. I would hate to think I was using products that would cause polution, add to the global warming problem, or cause environmental hazards like poisoning the water supply. We all have to do our part to help keep the environment safe and clean.

Supermarkets that carry Organic Product lines

Here is a little research to help you find organic products in your local area. These all carry at least a section of Organic Products in my area. Perhaps one of these stores are close by. If so, it can't hurt to take a look...right?

  • Pilgrims Market
  • Super 1
