Ok...I know, it's a little weird. An entire website dedicated to those adorable towel animals that mysteriously show up in your room when you're on a cruise or staying at a Bed & Breakfast.My husband and I just got home from a romantic Carnival cruise to the Bahamas. It was wonderful. We were on the Elation and had ports of call in Freeport & Nassau.
Now if you've ever been on a cruise, you know that one of the best parts is the FOOD...
But also every night when you come back to your stateroom, the cruise staff makes these cute towel animals and puts them in interesting places!
They even offered a class on how to make them & (of course) I went. I found out that I actually have a little bit of a knack for making these...and it's so much fun!
Carnival sells a book in the gift shop for $12 or $15 with instructions on how to make them, but I didn't get it. I learn much better when someone shows me how to do it in person, like the class.
When we got home, we looked on the internet for someone that actually SHOWED you how to do it, but we only found one DVD set with only a few of the animals.
So my husband (Tony) came up with the idea of video taping me making ALL of the amazing animals that we could find. That's how this lens got started.

Why Won't My Towel Animal Stand Up?
This is by far THE most common question I get...You watched the video. It seems easy enough to do, right? So you grab a towel from your bathroom or linen closet and start to fold.
You roll and twist and fold, then you stand up your elephant and it rolls over like a lazy hound dog!
Here's what's wrong...
Your towels are too fluffy! The best towels for towel animals are the lower-grade (hate to say it...) hotel-style towels that have NOT had fabric softener used on them.
They hold their shape much better and are generally stiffer.
So if your towel animals don't look like mine in the video, try losing the super luxurious, Martha Stewart, soak up a whole swimming pool, soft as a baby's bottom towels.
Grab some of those towels you bought when you were broke and single. You know, the ones you're using to wash your car -- use those.
If you don't have any, just go to Wal-Mart and buy the least expensive ones you can find. Or, you can go here for the perfect towels at wholesale prices.
