Why this is a great time to shop & save at Ebay & other online stores
Ranked #17,427 in Business & Work, #329,540 overall
Economy, gas, food and utility prices can't keep a good shopper down!
This is a great time to be purchasing on Ebay. While I'll be the first to admit that Ebay is not perfect, it can be an excellent way to stock Santas sack for cheaper than you might have thought possible. I originally wrote this lens for Christmas 2008. We are now fast approaching Christmas 2009 and I have learned even better ways to save and to benefit from online shopping. In addition to that I've learned safer ways, in which I will share with you here.
Economy, gas prices as of late have made many of us cut back on needless driving such as yard sales and garage sales and store to store bargain hunting. Anyone who does the family grocery shopping has seen the outrageous rise in food prices. All of these combined have caused us to cut down on 'what' we buy. However, if you are like me, I've cut in half what I buy but as the price go up I'm still spending the same. In some cases spending more. However, that doesn't have to stop us from the yard sale shopping or bargain hunting. We simply do it online from the comfort of our home in our spare time. I love shopping, Coffee and wearing soft comfy mens pajama pants. Now I can enjoy all three at the same time!

There are other ways to add to this benefit. Using ebay coupon codes, they typically send out one or two a month.
You can also sign up for bigcrumbs here, its totally free and gives you cash back on every single ebay purchase.
Toys are something I like to shop for on ebay because toys are expensive and kids typically loose interest quickly so why pay more? Not to mention I like to order my daughter some of the toys from when I was a kid. I've found that they tend to hold up better, and she enjoys them just as much if not more. Last year I got cash back on so many purchases through Bigcrumbs that I actually got more than a quarter of my spending paid back to me!!
So what are you waiting for? Go sign up for Bigcrumbs, shop smarter, more convenient and put more toys under that tree for a lot less money!

Why I recommend Ebay, Amazon and other online outlets
Accessability, Affordability, & Convenience
Did I mention how good for your health online shopping can be? Have you ever been our shopping with your 3 year old who cried a river over some terribly over priced piece of junk that was purposefully placed within reach on a checkout line? Suddenly your desire to shop was over and the only place you want to go is home! As a mother I know how frustrating this can be, which is another reason I love shopping online. I have high blood pressure and this type of situation can cause some not so good physical effects on my body. So I guess in my case it is also healthy shopping.Ebay sellers are pressured to sell, the listing fee's aren't cheap so they want to move product quick. They also are held to a higher standard than they used to be. So, your probably not going to get home and find that the blouse you got such a bargain on actually had a hole under the arm or missing buttons, and if such a mistake does occur most sellers are quick to correct it.
In addition to this your most likely going to find lots of items faster and in better choices online than driving store to store.

Why a down economy is the best time to shop online!
A down economy is the best time for online shopping for several reasons. These are just a few good reasons why myself and many others choose to do a huge percentage of our shopping online. I'm sure you can think of many others, feel free to post them below. I look forward to reading your reasons. The three mini links on this section are all toy stores that are currently offering either free shipping, free extra's for birthdays or online discounts.

I recommend online shopping because..
Shipping prices on ebay are really not that bad if your careful. I typically try to find a seller that has more than one item Im interested in. Then I make sure that they will combine my shipping fees. As the weight of the item goes up so does the price. The distance to ship also plays into the pricing as well. Compared to average gas prices most shipping fees are fair. You just have to be careful when you bid. One thing to always look out for is never bid or buy it now on an item that does not show you what your shipping is going to be. This way there are no surprises at checkout.
You can discounts and save money shopping online from everything ranging from Toys & clothing to DVD's. With endless possabilites you are not limited to simply what is available.
Secondly I recommend ebay because there are a lot of honost sellers out there. Your not going to find us on the cover of fortune 500. Still, you know that we take personal care and your business means so much to us and our families.
For myself nothing beats online shopping. There are no crowds, lines, or traffic to worry with. Not to mention there are no eye appealing toys & candy just within your toddlers reach at the checkout line. We all know those are placed this way for the sole purpose of inducing a screaming tantrum in the hopes the Mothers will buy it just to get out the door in peace. For myself, online shopping is a breath of fresh air, Just go to the mailbox and pick it up.
Great Stuff on eBay
Here are a few things I'm selling on Ebay
What makes this years shopping better than in past years?

Simple really...The economy! With the economy in the mess that it is people are trying to make up the slack however they can. Selling off what we don't need is an excellent way to do that.
Do you research the seller who's items you are considering buying or bidding? You should do this! I don't just mean look to see if they've ever gotten a negative. Look at thier 'about me' pages see if they tell about themselves. If so why do they sell? What are their selling practices? The best way to look at a seller or buyers feedback is to look at "feedback left for others"!! You will learn more about your trading partner by doing this than you ever will looking at what others have said about them!
Does the seller name call and make very childish statements? Or Are they courteous even in the face of disagreement? Stay away from these!!
Do they write a huge 'about me' in which they seem to say "I don't need your money" and I'm doing you a favor by selling to you? Stay away from these as well.
You can also look at thier My world page. Sometimes you'll find someone who you honostly want to do business with. I have at times paid a bit more for something by buying it from a seller with less sales because I felt like they possibly needed the sale more so than the other person.
Ebay's prices have hurt the sellers, for this reason we can't afford to relist items very often so many of us have dropped prices in order to move product quickly. Sellers also need to sale a lot of items to make up for the occasional trouble buyer. New Ebay policys designed to help buyers has been drastically taken advantage of by fraudulent bidders. I have been fairly lucky as a seller and haven't had to many of these. Only one has actually escalated to claim filing and negative feedback. I was still very disappointed as this is the only negative I've ever recieved in 7 yrs.
I would also recommend taking advantage of combined shipping. Sellers who have several items that may interest you can usually be shipped together. Unless they items are really heavy this is where you save the max amount of cash on ebay transactions.
