Many people make money selling products on Ebay but what makes an ideal Ebay product for turning a decent profit. When selecting an Ebay product you should try to meet as many of the following criteria as possible.
1. There must be an easily definable searchable market. It doesn't have to be huge small specialist markets with little competition can be very profitable. It has to be definable however. Anything to vague will be difficult to market. Don't try to sale "tee shirts" sale clash or Madonna tee shirts.
2. High profit potential. Your potential profit margin must be high enough to cover expenses and allow for any auctions that result in no sale or a sale at below expectations
3. Postage and shipping costs must be taken into consideration an ideal product is light, small, and robust enough to withstand the postal service. Of course if the product is unique and valuable enough shipping costs become insignificant.
4. You must have a unique selling point normally this is availability and/or price. If your product is available at the local store for a similar price that where your potential customer will buy it
5. It must meet Ebay terms and conditions. In addition if you are selling goods on a global basis you must meet various import and export regulations
6. When considering a product you must consider your time and make sure the profit per sale is adequate compensation. This includes time to source products, make listings, deliver products to your customers and don't forget dealing with customer's queries and complaints. All this has to be taken into consideration, but do allow for the fact that as time goes these tasks will become routine and take less time
7. It should be scaleable it's of little value having one unit of an ideal product unless it's extremely valuable. You should be producing your product yourself or have a very reliable source.
8. It ideally should be long lasting go profits can be made from trend marketing on eBay but when the bubble bursts it's back to the drawing board. again
Of course not every product can meet all the criteria and the above list and many people make excellent money selling the most unlikely products on eBay.
If you are a newcomer to Ebay however I suggest you try to match every product you sale to as many of the above as possible.
Some ideal products are
