Ebay - A great home based business

Quick ways and easy tips to get you started on a home based business selling things on ebay.

Ebay tips and ideas

There are many things you should know once you set up your Ebay account in order to be more successful. Here are a list of things to get your started. There are also several great books you can read for more information on having an Ebay home based business.
  • By having a PayPal account people can pay you using their credit card. That money is deposited into your PayPal account which can either be spent using your PayPal debit card or by having PayPal deposit it directly into your checking account (one note on payment, it's a good idea not to accept personal checks. Accept money orders and cashiers checks instead)
  • You can ship internationally, just make sure you charge extra to cover your extra fees with shipping it out of the country.
  • If you have many auctions you need to place at once you can use an online auction lister like Ink Frog (http://www.inkfrog.com/).
  • Dont want to deal with merchandise or dont have room in your house to keep things? Try drop shipping. With a simple search on Google you can find many drop shipping companies. Just make sure you do your homework and research them to make sure the drop shipping company is legit.
  • Need ideas on what to sell on Ebay? How about jewelry or art that you make from home, things that you picked up at estate sales, things you purchased on sale from department stores, or things you could buy at discount stores.
  • When deciding on what to sell on Ebay make sure you look at the price things are currently selling for before you place your auction. For example if you are thinking about selling bracelets that you made yourself, look up what bracelets similar to yours are selling for. You'll be able to tell if it will be profitable for you to sell that item or not.
  • One way to see what is being sold on Ebay is just to take a look around the site. Pay attention to what is selling at high prices. Many items on Ebay are never sold at all. Pay attention to this as well. You may want to avoid selling those items if Ebay is already flooded with similar items that are going unsold.
  • Make sure your auction looks as nice as possible. Add a picture of the actual item being sold. Your auction has a much higher chance of being clicked on if it includes a picture. Include as much information as possible and make sure things are spelled correctly. Try to be as helpful to the buyer as possible: Accept several types of payment (PayPal, cashier's checks, money orders), offer to ship internationally, dont charge too much for shipping and handling, have a 10 day money back guarentee, quickly answer any questions potential buyers may have and above all act professionally. After all this is your business.
  • Try not to leave negative feedback. Leaving negative feedback for someone can anger them and they can in turn leave it for you. This can be harmful to your business and can ruin your good reputation. Even if a buyer doesn't pay after repeated requests dont leave anything negative. Just turn it over to Ebay and let them handle it.
