Murders in the Rue Morgue, The: The Dupin Stories
Audio Book
C. Auguste Dupin, investigator extraordinaire, was the remarkable creation of Edgar Allan Poe. Written in the 1840s, Poe presented the acutely observant, shrewd but idiosyncratic character who, with his chronicler, provided the inspiration for Doyle's more famous Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. Here are the three Dupin stories. What is the strange story behind The Murders in the Rue Morgue? Can Dupin solve, by analysis from afar, The Mystery of Marie Roget? And how can he possibly retrieve The Purloined Letter when the efforts of the Paris police have been in vain?

Many years ago my oldest sister used to recite The Black Cat and we all used to recite parts of The Raven and Bells, Bells, Bells. I don't think kids memorize like we used to. I still remember most of what I learned. Great lens. I truly enjoyed. Thank you.

"The Raven" is my favorite poem, so much so that I memorized every word. It is a brilliant piece of work, and so haunting. Many people have heard the first line "Once upon a midnight dreary", but how many know it is from Poe's "The Raven"?

Definitely a favorite. The Raven was the first of his works I read, and found it dark, suspenseful, spine-tingling, just plain fantastic. I have had the chance to read many more of his works, but not all. Well done lens.

The most gifted poet we have ever known.
"The skies they were ashen and sober;
The leaves they were crisped and sere -
The leaves they were withering and sere;
It was night in the lonesome October
Of my most immemorial year:
It was hard by the dim lake of Auber,
In the misty mid region of Weir -
It was down by the dank tarn of Auber,
In the ghoul-haunted woodland of Weir."
