Edith Piaf - La Mome - a little Sparrow from Belleville
Around the story of her life there are almost as many versions as there are tellers.
For me, my pilgrimage started in 72, rue Belleville in Paris. By the pavement where, according to the account by her possible half-sister Simone Bertaut, she was born.
There is a plate on the wall of this house with the text:
'Sur les marches de cette maison naquit le 19 Décembre 1915 dans le plus grand dénuement Edith Piaf dont la voix, plus tard, devait bouleverser le monde.'
Come and join me in the legendary world of Edith Piaf!
Je ne regrette rien
Non, rien de rien
Non, je ne regrette rien
Ni le bien qu'on m'a fait, ni le mal
Tout ca m'est bien égal
Non, rien de rien
Non, je ne regrette rien
C'est payé, balayé, oublié
Je me fous du passé
Avec mes souvenirs
J'ai allumé le feu
Mes chagrins, mes plaisirs
Je n'ai plus besoin d'eux
Balayés mes amours
Avec leurs trémolos
Balayés pour toujours
Je repars à zéro
Non, rien de rien
Non, je ne regrette rien
Ni le bien qu'on m'a fait, ni le mal
Tout ca m'est bien égal
Non, rien de rien
Non, je ne regrette rien
Car ma vie
Car mes joies
Aujourd'hui
Ça commence avec toi...
Je ne regrette rien!

- A truly wonderful voice. Some of her songs were heart-breakingly beautiful.
