Eight Days A Week - Origins and Notes

There are two different versions of how this song was created, but both versions give most of the writing credit to Paul. In the first version Paul was being driven home from the studio, when he conversationally asked the chauffeur how he was doing. The chauffeur replied "oh working hard, eight days a week."
In the other version, Ringo is said to have used this phrase. He was well-known by his band mates and others for using odd sayings and phrases.

The Beatles themselves did not like this song very much and never preformed it live, although they did lip-sync it on one television broadcast, "Thank Your Lucky Stars".

One very unusual feature about this song is that instead of "fading out" this song actually "fades in". Another notable fact is that although Paul was the primary writer, it is John who is the lead singer.

The band may not have particularly cared for this song but their U.S. fans certainly did. It wasn't long after its release that it became their eighth number one hit on the U.S. charts.

The Beatles - Eight Days a Week Lyrics

Lennon/McCartney

Ooh i need your love babe,
Guess you know it's true.
Hope you need my love babe,
Just like i need you.
Hold me, love me, hold me, love me.
Ain't got nothin'but love babe,
Eight days a week.

Love you ev'ry day girl,
Always on my mind.
One thing i can say girl,
Love you all the time.
Hold me, love me, hold me, love me.
Ain't got nothin'but love babe,
Eight days a week.

Eight days a week
I love you.
Eight days a week
Is not enough to show i care.

Ooh i need your love babe, ...

Eight days a week ...

Love you ev'ry ...
