Janice

Guitar

As lead guitarist for The Electric Mayhem, the Muppet Show house band, Janice was one of the only female muppets to interact regularly with the bigshots of the show. Miss Piggy usually hogged the leading lady roles, but Janice is not a jealous woman. Janice was in a devoted relationship with Floyd Pepper, who played the bass, and though she often came off as the "ditzy blonde" this was not the case. Janice was smart and witty. She was sexy without trying to be - girly but fit right in with the guys. And, her laid back attitude is priceless.

Animal

Drums

Animal is a wild one. He has been an inspiration to millions of drummers worldwide. Animal really is (as his inner voice said) simply: sex, sleep, food, drums and pain.

Animal is Electric Mayhem's drummer, but he has also preformed many gigs on his own. His preforemance with Rita Moreno of Fever is classic.

Floyd cares for Animal, making sure he has what he needs and doesn't harm himself or anyone else.

"You don't mess with Animal. He eats glass, man." - Frank Oz

Zoot

Saxaphone

Zoot is the the balding, blue-haired saxophone player for the Electric Mayhem. He expresses himself mostly through music. Though he spoke more in the first few years of Electric Mayhem, he has become nearly non-verbal, which very few are cool enough to pull off.

Scooter

Manager

Scooter is the very friendly, boy next door kind, who never wanted to cause controversy. He liked to do his job and keep people happy. Very lovable!

In The Muppet Movie, Scooter was the road manager for Electric Mayhem. He graduated to this role after being gofer backstage on The Muppet Show.

Srgt. Floyd Pepper

Bass Guitar

Srgt. Floyd Pepper's name is an obvious reference to the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, as does his jacket. The name 'Floyd', as well as his skin color, references the band Pink Floyd.

Floyd most often sings lead vocals, and he serves as and is Animal's handler.

About Electric Mayhem

Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem is the name of a Muppet rock band and house band of the The Muppet Show. Following The Muppet Show, they appeared in various Muppet movies and television specials, and have also recorded album tracks. Dr. Teeth was designed by Jim Henson, while the rest of the original band members were designed by Michael K. Frith.

The band consists of Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Janice on guitar, Sgt. Floyd Pepper on bass guitar, Zoot on saxophone and Animal on drums. In season five of the show, Lips joined the band on trumpet. Animal, Floyd and Zoot also played in the Muppet Show pit band, performing the opening and closing themes and underscoring most of the Muppet Show performances. Lips and occasionally Janice appeared in the orchestra in later episodes. Though Lips made some appearances with the group after The Muppet Show ended production, the group later reverted to its original line-up. Also, the original pilot episode, Sex and Violence, featured "Jim", a Muppet caricature of Jim Henson on banjo.

The band's first film role was performing the song "Can You Picture That?" in The Muppet Movie. They also performed "Night Life" and participated in "Happiness Hotel" in The Great Muppet Caper, and performed "Jingle Bell Rock" in A Muppet Family Christmas. They appeared in The Muppets Take Manhattan (sans Lips), where Dr. Teeth sang "You Can't Take No For An Answer." Following the deaths of two of the group's puppeteers, they were limited to brief instrumental background music for years. However, Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem backed Miss Piggy for a song in The Muppets Wizard of Oz and performed alongside Miley Cyrus in the Category: Studio DC: Almost Live - television special. More recently, they appeared on the YouTube channel as part of the 2009 parody cover of Queens "Bohemian Rhapsody" that many Muppet characters took part in.
