Ideas for Elementary School Fundraising Activities

In today's economy, schools are having a hard time supplying the children with educational material. With the funding cuts and the district trying to maintain the minimum in basic supplies, it falls to the parent volunteers to pick up the slack. Without parent volunteers, children would not have field trips and other educational activities.

The hay maze shown here is just one of the fun activities at the Fall Festival.

Fundraising Alternatives

The second graders are going to the paleontology museum. They will be gone for 3 hours and it will take two buses. Each bus cost $300.00 an hour. How much will the field trip cost? Sounds like a basic second grade math question. The real question is, who pays for the bus?

The Fall Festival

How to setup a fall festival
The Fall Festival is coming. The climbing wall is back. The kids are making games for their classrooms. The flyers are all over the school. The kids can't wait. The parents have already been informed that they need to buy a ticket for the cow-drop contest. Let's face it, the kids love the Fall Festival.

Elementary School Cookbook

One of my child's favorite bedtime reading activities is this cookbook. 90% of the recipes are inedible because we sat down with every child in the school and had them tell us how to make their favorite dish. We are in a more rural area so the dish for eggs says "chicken poop them out". This is a treasure that has been enjoyed for several years and we do have a tasty recipe for potato pancakes by the Principal.

The Runners' Club Logo

Not a fundraiser but a school activity with lots of parental support

The Runner's Club gets our kids running at recess. In it's fourth year, it has grown into a standard daily activity. To support the prizes, a fun run is held each year when the children get pledges for the laps they run. This is also a popular activity where all the children participate and parents come to with their children.
Runner's Club
Our elementary school was concerned about the physical fitness of our children. With budget cuts, our physical education was only two hours a week. We decided to give the children a reason to run (walk) everyday. We started a "Runners' Club". It was very successful. One kid ran 147 miles. He only had 15 minutes a day to do i

It won't be long before the little children will be coming to the door with their fundraisers. They really aren't supposed to, but in our small neighborhood it's pretty safe. Great ideas here:-)

I am so tired of trying to raise money and volunteering at the school for the past at least 5 years, just to have our school close down. A huge let down considering that me, my dad and his dad had all gone to the school. Now my sister is PTO president and I actually feel sorry for her but i will of course help her to be successful. Anyway, great lens and great ideas - thanks!!
