My Love Story

I had just moved to Mount Pleasant Iowa, 18, a single mother with a 1 ½ year old child. I had moved back in with my parents, and decided that I had been neglecting my relationship with the Lord for too long!


My parents knew of a bible study that some teens were having, and they urged me to go. I was hesitant at first because I did not know the people, and also because um ... "bible study" sounded sooo boring! But I decided to give it a try! What could it possibly hurt, plus I needed to rebuild my relationship with God.


So the very first night I met everyone at the College Library, and that's when I saw the most handsome man I've ever laid eyes on! I know that sounds mushy, but it is so true! He was sitting at the end of the table, so quiet, dark and mysterious. I knew from the very beginning I had to have him, he would be mine!

I had never had to make it a point to let someone know I "liked" them, but with Michael I basically had to shout it at him! I tried everything to get him to notice me, and respond, but the only response I was getting was shrugged off!


I bugged his best friend to find out if he liked me or not, and pretty much everyone else in the study. However no one would tell me what they knew, which made me believe that it was a big fat NO.


Although everyone was telling me I should let him chase me, and that it wasn't "lady-like" to chase after a man, I have never sat back and let something I wanted walk away from me, instead I was like "white on rice!" Every time we had a study I always managed to sit close to him, I would make it a point to start a conversation with him, and oh the hours I spent preparing myself so that he would be attracted to me!
I think back now and see how pathetic I was!! Ugghhh!!

Although I continue to make myself look "pretty" on the outside, for attraction reasons. My husband thinks I'm beautiful regardless if I'm wearing my beautiful black dress, or my PJ's!
(It's a respect thing)

We (everyone in the study) all planned a shopping adventure for the day after Thanksgiving. We were going to go Christmas shopping, Ice skating, and to dinner. I was very excited because, of course, Michael was going to be there!


So when we first arrived at the mall everyone wanted to split up, well actually most everyone wanted to go to the paintball store except me and Caleb. So I hung out with Caleb, which was Michael's best friend's brother, and talked to him about how much I liked Mike. He kept telling me not to give up, and that he thought that Mike liked me as well.


So when everyone returned we played in the arcade for awhile and as we were leaving everyone decided it was time to go ice skating. I was not really in the mood for ice skating, I basically wanted to sulk about how frustrating it was to like someone and not know if he liked you back, but they talked me into skating ...


So as we all were skating my friend came up to me and grabbed me by the hand, she then grabbed Michael by the hand and was skating in the middle of us for a while. I had no idea what she was planning, but I knew she was up to something ... then all of a sudden she let go and put my hand in Michael's. He took it and we began skating together.


That's when I decided to go ahead and just tell him that I liked him, much to my surprise he said that he had a "crush" on me too! Ever since that moment we have been together every day! It's going on 3 years now! We've been married for 2 wonderful years and we have a son together as well as my daughter who is now 5!

Oh how I love that man! He drives me crazy insane! We have our bad days but for the most part our life is blissfully wonderful in my eyes.


Michael is a hunter and outdoors-man, and I on the other hand think that there really is no reason to kill an animal just to kill it. I don't really like meat, but eat it because it's part of the family diet.

Michael has got to be one of the quietest people on earth. By quiet I don't mean soft spoken, because he is anything but quiet when he does speak. I mean he doesn't really talk a whole lot! There are many people who are intimidated by him because he doesn't talk.

He looks like Sylvester Stallone, however I'd have to say my husband is much more handsome, not that Sly isn't good looking. He is very much into shooting guns in general. His abilities have earned trophies in many gun shooting competitions. He's very talented and pretty much a genius! When we have a problem he magically knows the solution! How absolutely amazing is that!!

I am proud to say I am his first and only girlfriend, wife, and everything else!
