Are Overzelous Spam Filtering Companies Leaving Your Pockets Empty
I created this Lens last year, and did not update it so I could see if my research was correct. Well, let's review my findings.
A year ago, Barracuda Networks one of the industry leading spam filtering companies reported the following:
Email Received: 1,146,654,055 (100%)
Email Blocked: 1,077,791,615 (94.0%)
They blocked 94% of all email that was delivered through their system.
Well, today Nov. 21, 2008 here are the results.
Email Blocked: 1,243,307,416 (88.26%)Think about this for a second. 88.26% of all email is being blocked.
Now, you may think "this is only one filtering service." This is true, but let's take a look at who they are blocking for:
Comcast - #3 Internet Service Provider in the nation.
Herbalife - One of the top five Network Marketing companies in history.
Microsoft - Parent company if MSN #2 Internet Service Provider in the nation.
Tupperware - one of the top 10 Network Marketing companies in the world
Verizon - #7 Internet Service Providers in the USA.
