ENNIO MORRICONE

Ennio Morricone was born on Nov 10, 1928 in Roma. He starting composing scores in the early 1960's.Some of Ennio Morricone's first work was scoring  Spaghetti Western's, directed by Sergio Leone. From there he has put his touch on over 500 films and tv series. A few include, THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, THE MISSION, DAYS OF HEAVEN, IN THE LINE OF FIRE,ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA,CINEMA PARADISO to name just a few.

He has been nominated five times for his scores on such films, as THE MISSION -1986, THE UNTOUCHABLES-1987 and NUOVO CINEMA PARADISO. He recently was awarded an honary Academy Award for his body of work. His scores are moving and transendent and each piece puts a signature on the films themselves. It hard to think of one of the related film without hearing a piece of music by Morricone in your head.  His music can be found throughout many film genres, yet there is something distintive about his scores, their rhythm and flow, their effects. The theme from Cinema Paradiso brings a tear to my eye and a warmth to my soul every time I hear it and I have heard it a hundred times! You may not know his name, but I bet you already know his music. Anima e corpo
