Enviro Kids

I was a kid in the fifties and sixties, and although there wasn't a lot of environmental consciousness going on at the time, I did begin to wonder where did all the garbage go.

Today's kids are being raised a lot differently, with a consciousness to help preserve the planet, a step in the right direction.

This is a photo of my daughter, when she was younger, joining in with the flowers.

Enjoy a walk

Studies have shown that plants that received attention, by just being looked at and all other conditions being equal, grew taller and healthier than plants that didn't receive attention. So just by going out for a walk and enjoying the plantlife that is there, contributes to their health as well as to yours.

Enjoy a walk.

Celebrate trees

Trees are a great contributor to our healthy air. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, which people exhale, and give off oxygen, which people breathe in. By celebrating, planting, and nurturing trees, we are contributing to the healthy air that we breathe.

Recycle or Re-Use

We use plastic containers at home to collect the items that we recycle. The items that we save for recycling are newspapers and magazines, soda and milk bottles, soda and soup cans, and computer paper.

Some of the items are picked up when we set the garbage out, and some of the items we take to a recyling center.

When we shop, we use less plastic bags by using re-usable bags.

When we use plastic bags, we also re-use them. For example, we use the small plastic bags in our small trash cans; they make a perfect liner. We also use them as small garbage bags for our pet waste.

Many people also recycle plastic bags; many grocery stores have containers for recycling plastic bags.

So when it comes to being earth friendly, we can recycle and/or re-use.

"This is the bag I've been looking for--sturdy, just the right size, flat bottom, eco friendly. I've been recycling since the early 70's and this fits right in with my goal of saving the earth for the next generation." J. Woods

Earth Write Pencils

Another earth friendly way is to use products that are at least partially made from consumer waste. By using products made from recycled materials:

We reduce the amount of waste that goes to land fills.

We reduce the amount of trees used in the making of those products.

Recycled newspaper is helping out in the making of earth friendly pencils.

New Igo GREEN Tip of the Day

Earth Hour 2008, turning off the lights for 1 hour, was a big success

People around the world turned off the lights for one hour at an agreed upon time. That's something we can all do more of everyday.
Earth Hour US - Earth Hour 2008
On March 29th, people everywhere turned off their lights-to make a statement, to help find new ways to reduce their impact on the environment.

Say hi, give thanks, bless you.
