By the way, both Steve's Digicams and DPReview are highly recommended resources for anyone researching digital cameras. their multi-page reviews are extremely thorough and generally quite fair.

With three successor models out, you can't just walk into your friendly local camera store (if you're lucky enough to have one), and buy an EOS 20D. Your best option is probably eBay--but with a purchase this large it's especially important that you trust the seller. Check feedback carefully, and be sure to read the detailed feedback, not just the overall ratings.

Based on watching the action for a while, I estimate that you should plan to pay between $300 and $450 for an EOS 20D body (more if the sale includes a lens, though you're on your own to research how much more is reasonable).

I have two drawings in the mix, and a few scans of older photos on film, but most of these were taken with my Digital Rebel.

On a different but related note, I've just started using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to process the photos I take. I'm still working on my free trial, but I'm going to buy before the trial period expires.
