Epiphone Les Paul Standard: Plus vs Plain top
The Cherry Sunburst is in my experience the most popular finish of the Les Paul guitar. What rock guitar fan hasn't seen one being played by a famous artist? The Epiphone models feature impressive finishes, especially the Plus, and quality construction as well. In terms of playability the Plus and Plain are identical, it becomes a matter of aesthetic choice which one to prefer.
Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Cherry Sunburst Review
Playability: 4/5
Construction Quality: 4/5
Finish: 4.5/5
Overall Value: 5/5
This guitar has the classic formula of a heavy mahogany body with a flamed maple top. The finish is very impressive with a high level of detail on the flamed maple top. The back of the guitar features a transparent finish with the tint of the lacquer matching the color of the guitar.
The pickups are replicas of the Gibson combo 490R/498T, these are designed to have a modern sound due to an increased response in the upper mid range.
The neck is a replica of the 60's slim tapered featured on many Gibson electric guitars, these are thinner and feel faster to play than the 50's models. And it comes with original Grover tuners.

Sound: 4/5Playability: 4/5
Construction Quality: 4/5
Finish: 4/5
Overall Value: 5/5
The only difference between the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top Cherry Sunburst and the Plus is the flamed maple top, and the fact that the Plain it's not available in a lefty model.
This guitar is a very good deal considering the finish of the maple top doesn't affect the sound or performance of the guitar at all.
Also it's less expensive than the Plus Top, with the difference in price one could buy a pair of pickups, some effect pedal, a hard case or any other of the many useful accessories around the price.

Epiphone Les Paul Ultra Cherry Sunburst Review
Sound: 4/5Playability: 4/5
Construction Quality: 4/5
Finish: 4.5/5
Overall Value: 5/5
The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra Cherry Sunburst is another option of the Les Paul guitar available in this finish. Its mahogany body has chambers that reduce the weight.
This chambered body provides an acoustic tonality to the sound. The back of the body has a carved belly rest for added comfort. It comes with a narrower neck than all other Les Paul guitars, making it very easy to play for small hands. The back of the neck has a dry satin finish with a sort of 'rubberish' texture, and all the hardware is gold plated.
