Etiquette On Affiliate Marketing Is Important

I don't reinvent the wheel now, but having all etiquette rules on just one place is helpful especially for beginners.
It is more, 2009 is a good year for Affiliate Marketing and for Internet Marketing in general.

The competition is higher, but the opportunities are equally higher.

Personally I can say that I learn 50% from others (gurus and books), 50% from my own mistakes. All of you can experiment with trial and error method but it is time consuming, trust me on this.

My concept is if we don't learn from mistakes we never overcome obstacles.

If you agree with me, please keep reading.

Note: The picture is from the last eBay annual convention I attended.
I was doing my round on Education Specialist Boot, next picture is from the same event.

Honesty For Life.

Do your best to be honest from the beginning and remain honest after your name is established.

I start with this point because I noticed so much guru arrogance over the years.

I am convinced that this is one bullet proof point which can lift or get drowned your business.

After years of hype and bragging, this beautiful marketing is in danger of disrespect and distrust, I do my very modest contribution to change this habit

Build Your Reputation

Be patient and build the trust on you gradually, a reputation is not establish or acquire in an hour. or a day. or a month. It is a matter of time, how long? I honestly don't know is based on personality, perseverance, and native talents you have.

I like a quote from Warren Buffett:

"It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it.
If you think about that, you'll do things differently"

Manners, Manners, Manners

Having good manners are all about respecting others and yourself.

Manners count simply because people treat you as you treat them. You have nothing to lose being: polite, caring, sharing, considering. The good manners transform your buyers in repeating buyers for your products.

Respect is not something falling from the sky, you have to earn it with your attitude and your actions.
My grandma use to say "treat people as you like to be treated". She was right, wasn't she?

The good manners apply on our day by day life but they have an enormous impact on Affiliate Marketing.
The potential customers become customers and buy from you only if:
  • You are likable and knowledgeable
  • You look polite and trustworthy
  • You are a person they fill that they "know" you

They aren't buying just because you advertise something.

Volume vs. Quality.

Unfortunately we need volume work but we must be sure that we don't compromise the quality of our work.

This is easy to say but not that easy to balance those 2 elements.

To be honest, I was and still am worry about having 50, 100 or more lenses.
Let's take the 100 example. If we must update just once per week each lens, this means we must update 16-17 lenses per day. This means we must update lenses the rest of our life without having time to do other creative work! Do we want to do this?

I think:
  • We have to work extremely hard to get traffic with Web 2.0 Applications, to the point that the system will work by itself, without our interference
  • In Affiliate Marketing is possible to create automated systems, we have to do that, this is one of the reasons I like affiliate marketing
  • We have to use macros to feather automate other tasks which can be automated.
  • Some point in time we have to outsource some work.

But what about our lenses?
Can somebody explain to me, how you solve this dilemma, how you manage your time, maybe I don't have yet the good enough answers on this subject.

I open the Pandora box of criticism on this topic as definitely, I want to keep myself on the creative side of work, I suffer from information overload like everybody else, and I want to learn from experts on Squidoo.

Don't Hype!

With other words, this is known as:

Don't fake it until you make it, Internet people will notice that you are faking success!

And when you make it, still don't hype, Internet users are sick and tired of it!

This is an old tactic marketers used and abused for years, and worked 90% in old days.

Now the learning process is done, we have savvy Internet users and this old tactic is not working anymore, or is still working maybe 20%.
By the way, there are an entire generation of new marketers what work hard to eliminate the hype. This percentage, which is an estimation, will go feather down

Follow The Rules of Resell Rights

Under the generic name of "Resell Rights" you will find the following flavors :
  • Basic Resell Rights
  • Master Resell Rights
  • Private Resell Rights and
  • Rebranding (sometime Private RR and Rebranding are part of just one group, but I like to make this distinction)
Definition 1: Basic Resell Rights have to do with being able to buy a product and sell it to your own customers. Read the license, you can find restrictions on how you can brand the product, as well as a suggestion about the amount you can charge for the product.

Definition 2: Master Resell Rights have all the privileges of basic resell rights, but also create the right for your customers to resell the product as well.

Definition 3: Private Labeling is a different approach to resell rights. While the name of the original author is still intact, and the product is still recognizable as being an original, a private labeling right allows you to customize the product for a specific audience.

Definition 4: Rebranding is perhaps the most open form of resell rights, and one of the most popular. With this option, you acquire an existing product and repackage it under your own brand name.

You have to read and carefully follow the licenses of Resell Rights.

Each author has the right to create a license as he/she wishes and if you don't like it just give up on that product.

It is very important to do business on good faith, it is actually part of the good manners of Affiliate Marketing. Today you are a buyer of RR, tomorrow you can be a seller of RR products.

If you need to discover good Products with Resell Rights I suggest to look it over Michael Jones' The Clickbank Code

You have the chance mastermind:
  • Finding the top secret website you can use to generate a list of high profit products to promote
  • The six steps you must take to get ahead of 99% of other marketers, I was thinking that is hype, but it is not!
  • How you can be making money in just a few moments of starting out
  • The two things a product absolutely must have before you can even consider promoting it
  • Why long tail keywords will strangle your profits almost instantly
  • How to get access to Michael's web templates to use for FREE
  • How to spend less than 2 hours putting together a website that gets you the highest possible Quality Score.
  • The 16 things your site needs to get max quality score
  • How to create a landing page that actually increases the vendor's page conversions
  • Why you need to arrange your keywords in a certain way to get the lowest clicks - this is priceless!

This publication has outstanding benefits, and I found a lot of over delivery as well.

How You Create Your Own Resell Rights Products

Let's say you have some Resell Rights Products.
How you create your own Resell Rights products from them.

There is no rules, except to follow the license, but this is my take on how to do it:

1) Keep it as simple as possible

2) Definitely offer some level of Resell Rights for your buyers to create viral marketing, my favorite is MRR - but is based on the product itself and the licence under you aquired the prod. if it isn't yours own creation

3) Consider digital products as the core of your product line (they are the easiest to sell, generate, and the cost involved in production is very low or zero): E-books, Videos, Audios,e-Courses, and Interviews can easily be resold

4) Include the necessary materials for your customers to be able to resell your product.
Is mandatory to offer the:
- license, sales letter, graphics, and the product PDF and/or Word form (based on the license)
and optional but strongly suggested:
- e-mails, signatures, blog posts, website posts

How You Sell Resell Rights Products

You can use all the info the author provide for you, but keep in mind that maybe thousands of people are doing the same think with the same product.

The safe and elegant way to do it is:

1) By a new domain for your advertising effort, using same keywords in a different way, do some split test if you have the right tool.

2) Create your own squeeze page even if you have one

3) Create your own Thank-you page because you have to offer your own bonuses, if any

4) Based on the license you have for that product, inspire yourself from the sale page but create a new one, or use the same page, or change only minimum necessary from the sale page you inherit from the author

5) Do not use the author graphics: especially the cover. Personally some time I change the graphics some tine I don't, if I have RR or MRR from a person very well known, I don't change the cover (it is psychological, can go wrong or right, both ways). If I have Private Resell Rights or Rebranding Rights I always create new graphics.

6) Always modify the email or create other emails.

7) Always modify Blogs articles offered by author, but inspire from them

8) If you use a ClickBank product to sell as an affiliate marketer, please, buy the product first, you have to know a lot about the product to create powerful sell pitch

For people with little practice of creating good squeeze pages, this is the product I recommend.

Matthew Glanfield's Your Squeeze Page Version 3.0

With Matthew's Your Squeeze Page Version 3.0 software, you can finally

- Create squeeze pages in less than 5 minutes
- Automatically test every aspect to get maximum results
- Google-friendly your squeeze pages to lower your costs
- Add video and audio to increase your profits and more...

It is not a software you buy and install, it is a membership which let you use their software. It will start with $1 in first month, will go to the full monthly membership amount after that.
It is a cheaper easy solution because they host your all squeeze pages, as many as you need as long as you are a member. They have tutorials to teach you how to use the software and a supper support team.

Do Not Spam

Comparing Squidoo with other platforms, Squidoo is more generous with Affiliate links or any other type of links, you are allowed yo use them.

Don't fill your lenses with too many affiliate links as you will create an impression that your single purpose is to sell. You must establish a good balance between how many links you have and how much information you provide. The main purpose of your lenses must remain the communication, education, fun, creating communities per niches.

The links on lenses are not interpreted as Spam, but as I said, it can create the impression of it, which can make potential customers to go away.

Did you noticed how many affiliates links I published already in this lens?
Tell you 4, without the intend to give you rules, I say that it is a good balance. I also have an Amazon module and this is it.

Now what is left is a good strategy to create Traffic,

This is one of the most fundamentally important lenses that I have read and should be the "keystone" building block which all else is built upon. These fundamental etiquette guides hold true in all business and personal relationships and kudo's to Michey for making a lens on them.

Hi! I am updating this lens now.
I thought that is easy to write about etiquette because it is commonsense.
Guess what - it wasn't easy - because of the manners. Please don't laugh on me, I am sincere here.
Now I am adding what was left from yesterday.
    Came back soon.
    Thanks

Thank you, you have a very good advice here.
And, Yes, the learning never stops, and Squidoo is a huge platform, actually the majority of web 2.0 platforms are full of possibilities and take time to dominate them. Look at Ning, and look at WordPress, I am using it but I am still learning. The same with Squidoo.
    Thanks a lot

Great Tips on Manners Michey! 5* from top to bottom.I always enjoy learning about your marketing methods. Everyone needs a little etiquette nudge! I don't believe the etiquette & information on this lens will ever go out-of-date! As far as updating lenses, I think if u have 5-10 top lenses & update those lenses on a regular basis, you will be farther ahead than trying to keep up with all of them. The rest of your lenses (or lenses related to your top 5-10 lenses) could be incorporating or featured in the other lenses. I personally can't see how anyone can keep up with updating 100 lenses but that's my opinion. There is so much to do & learn! Thanks again! :)
