Oslo is the capital and largest city in Norway. Founded around 1048 by King Harald III of Norway, the city was largely destroyed by a fire in 1624. The Danish/Norwegian king Christian IV rebuilt the city as Christiania (briefly also spelled Kristiania). In 1925 the city reclaimed its original Norwegian name, Oslo. The diocese of Oslo is one of the five original dioceses in Norway, which originated around the year 1070.

Oslo is the cultural, scientific, economic and governmental centre of Norway. The city is also a hub of Norwegian trade, banking, industry and shipping.

Your Thoughts About the Eurovision Song Contest 2010

Being Asian, I have never heard of this contest before (or I may have but I didn't really pay attention) but you have managed to pique my interest. Beautifully crafted lens, I will check back to listen to the music. (:
  • prosperity66 Feb 22, 2010 @ 3:30 am | delete
The lens is very well done, unashamed Eurovision fan :) I LOVED last year winning song! And it seems that Norway produced another great singer and another great song for this year contest!

However, it's in my opinion the most horrible day of the year in Europe... OMG! I'll surely book a trip for the weekend so that I'm not frustrated as all TV channels broadcast this atrocity. Eurovision Song Contest has become unfair to Western European countries and it has always been rigged in favour of some countries.

Apart from France Gall (France), Abba (Sweden), Johnny Logan (Ireland) and Brotherhood of Man (UK) I don't think a single Eurosion Song winner has got a career nor produced a single correct song - even not Sandra Kim, the Belgian winner twenty-five years ago, lol.

As for me, I'll say... Waxing-Lyrical, 12 points!

Oh... sh*** one can only allow 5 points to be given to the winner ;)
    Dom.

What an interesting story. Living in the United States, I have never heard about the Eurovision Song contest before. It sounds fascinating, and is obviously very popular and well known (at least overseas), judging by the all the news about it. I loved the waving flags you featured with each country's song entry. I'll be back to see who else has entered as the time for the contest draws near. Wonderful lens.
  • WordCustard Feb 21, 2010 @ 3:21 pm | delete
I don't know if I'll be watching this year or not, but what a fantastic idea for a lens and bound to get loads of traffic so it's great to see it being presented so professionally. Congratulations both on the idea and its execution. :-)
