Evanescence

Evanescence is one of the leading alternative rock bands in the United States. Getting their start in 1998 in the southern state of Arkansas, the band was formed by Ben Moody, then lead guitarist and lead singer Amy Lee. It didn't take long for the band to reach soaring heights in the music world; they recorded a few private albums, as well as Origin their demo album, and soon reached the start of their blooming career with the label Wind-Up Records, releasing their debut album Fallen.

Their debut album sold in excess of fourteen million copies around the world, as well as leading Evanescence to winning a couple of Grammy's. Their second album was released in 2006 titled The Open Door, with several new group members. Over several years the band has seen the exit of many original members. Lead guitarist and founding member Ben Moody quit the band in 2003 citing creative differences. Moody was then replaced by Cold's Terry Balsamo.

Three years later, bass guitarists Will Boyd, exited the Evanescence scene wanting to spend more time with his family to be replaced by Revolution Smile's Tim McCord. Less than a year later two more original members quit or was fired from the group. John LeCompt had been fired and Rocky Gray made the decision to quit, they have yet to replace these musicians, after such a short time, but the band is working on it. At the time of this article, the current Members of the Band include Amy Lee, lead vocalist, pianist, keyboard player, Terry Balsamo, guitarist, and Tim McCord, bassist.

Their discography includes Evanescence a 1998 private release, Sound Asleep a 1999 Private Release, Origin released in 2000 under the record label Bigwig Enterprises, Mystary released in 2003, Fallen also released in 2003, Anywhere but Home, released in 2004, and their latest album The Open Door, released in 2006, all under the record label Wind-up Records.
