The Winter Olympics started in 1924.

Many are enthused by the challenging stunts and acrobatics that each of the athletes performs. Many are convinced that this event is equally challenging as the Summer Olympics. A lot of fans are supporting their favorite athletes and many viewers are drawn to this even. They even get high ratings because many viewers are following each of the events. To name a few of the event, you can check on the list below:

On top of the list is the figure skating. This has a lot of categories where dancers get to wear skimpy outfits with their partners. There are also individual categories for both men and women. Under this category are: Pairs, Ice dancing, and Singles.

Singles: the skaters will be performing different jumps and stunts as they dance to the music provided by the contest coordinator. They call it the free skating.

Pairs: just like Ice dancing, it is danced by a boy and a girl.

Ice dancing: this is a performance by pair. The pair will dance in a song. Standard rule in this category is that they guy should not lift his partner higher than his shoulder.

Bobsledding: the participants will glide the winding ice. This is composed of pairs of runners, a brake, a long seat of four people, and a wheel.

Men's Ice Hockey: this is the most liked winter games. This is one of the six native sport activities since the start of the winter games. Most of the kids love this game.

Cross-country skiing: the participants will drive themselves in the terrain that is covered by snow. They need their poles and skis to do this. This is part of the Nordic skiing sports including the ski jumping.

Curling: this is considered as an exhibition game. Athletes call this as "Chess on Ice." There are two categories for this sport - men and women.

Freestyle skiing: this is an acrobatic form of air skiing. A number of disciplines is developed in this sport. However, there are not strict rules imparted on this sport.

Alpine Skiing: the athlete will glide down the hills covered with snow on their skis that has a heel fixed with biding. This will take place in a ski resort where the lifts are programmed and some are installed to transport the skiers up. There are also avalanches that are controlled to create real-like avalanche.
