When It Comes To Pulling Off The Ultimate Office Pranks, Just Tell Em, "The Devil Made Me Do It..."

Funny Pranks, Gags, and Practical Jokes
So how boring is your place of work? Dead as a cemetery or are you guys hanging off the chandelier? Regardless of what your work environment is like, you have come to this lens page partly out of curiosity ....or with a tinge of revenge in your bones.

Well, look no further. Because you have come to the right place. On this lenspage, I will show you how to turn those 8 or 10 hours of work every day, into a little bit of devilish entertainment. On the other hand, you can keep your workplace it serious and prim and proper. Sooner or later though, you will probably jump out of the window from the insanity caused by the rotting boredom you're undergoing.

So why not instead just laugh at the insanity? If anything, office pranks can raise morale in a department. It can turn a boring and cold person into a friend. Okay, let's not go too far. How about a close work associate?

Enough with the chit chat. Now, pull up a chair and a cup of Joe with good ole Cubicle Joe (that's me - lol), and learn how to master the art of the office prank.

Employably yours,

Cubicle Joe

P.S. By the way, some of these pranks (maybe all of them) can potentially make you unpopular with the "establishment" (that's upper management). So be careful. But if you really don't care about your career, then may the force of the jokster be with you !

The Prankster's Rules Of Conduct

ALWAYS...

  • Lie if someone suspects that you pranked them. Keep a straight face and deny, deny, deny.

  • Again, if someone suspects you pranked them, divert blame to another co-worker.

  • If you are pranking someone, make sure the event is public. What's the fun in keeping this moment private. It defeats the purpose.

  • Keep a calm and level head. Make sure you plan your prank out and don't rush into it just to do it and get it over with.

  • Don't prank someone immediately after they play a joke or prank on you. It will be obvious then. Wait, and then hit them when they least suspect it. Then you can divert attention to someone else if they suspect you.

  • SERIOUSLY, DO NOT PRANK SOMEONE IF:

  • You really do not know them well

  • They have no sense of humor

  • Your intention is to truly hurt them or maliciously make fun of them

  • If your boss really frowns upon such behavior and it may get you fired

  • In other words, please use common sense. The last thing you want to do is offend your co-worker or worst, have a complaint filed against you to human resources.

Okay, enough of the serious stuff. Let's get on with the fun stuff !
    Bullshit Button

    Office Pranks 101

Here are 10 great ideas that aren't complicated, yet will give you a level of well deserved respect.

Note: If you work in an environment where morale is relatively high, and pranks are common, my general rule of thumb has always been - if someone pranks you, then give them twice as much !!

    1. If you and your co-workers drive company cars, steal your co-workers car keys and move his/her car to another parking space. If you do not have company cars, make sure you have a great relationship with the employee victim before you pull this stunt.

    2. Take several sticks of chewing gum and chew on them a while. Take the chewed gum, flattened it out and place it underneath the door handle of your co-worker's car. When they attempt to open the car door, it will be a sticky commute.

    3. Fill your co-worker's cube (drawers, cabinets, etc.) with packing peanuts. Lots of them!

    4. Place tape on the underside of your co-worker's mouse and over the little ball. This will disable the mouse.

    5. Slightly unplug the wires from the back of the desk phone. Keep the wires in tact. It will take a while for your co-worker to realize why they haven't been receiving calls.

    6. Take all your co-worker's paper clips and clip them together making one long strand.

    7. This may seem a little cheesy, but works well with very anal attentive people. Turn everything upside down in your co-worker's cube. From pictures, to signs, certificates, pencils, etc. Sure to drive them nuts

    8. Take all the staples out of the stapler, or just leave one staple. That will drive them nuts.

    9. Most people keep a framed photo of a loved one or cherished pet on their desks. Cut out a random picture from a magazine or catalog (say, a woman wearing a bikini, or an ad for computer network hubs), open up the frame, and put the random photo in front of the real photo.

    10. Take your co-worker's cellphone and play with the phone's alarm by setting it at 3:00 a.m. You can also switch the language on the screen to French or whatever language.

Cubicle Joe's Office Joke Of The Week or The Day (whatever I'm in the mood for)

OVERWORKED I have found out the real reason why I'm tired, because I'm overworked! The population of this country is 237 million: 104 million are retired. That leaves 133 million to do the work. There are 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work. Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government. This leaves 19 million to do the work. 4 million are in the armed forces, which leaves 15 million to do the work. Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for the city and state government and that leaves 200,000 to do the work. There are 188,000 people in hospitals so that leaves 12,000 to do the work. Now there are 11,998 people in prison. That leaves 2 people to do the work, You and Me...
AND YOU'RE SITTING THERE SCREWING AROUND ON MY JOKE PAGE!

Can Pranking In The Office Raise Employee Morale?

    ThingsYouNeverKnewExisted.com
If you really think about it, you spend more time at work then you do with your own family. Its sad to say, but it is true. So with that being said, is it worth working in a dull work environment for 8-10 hours a day - 40/50 hours a week?

As human beings, we all need a little bit of diversity in life. Something to break up the monotony, or at times, release some pent up energy through a productive outlet. For some of us, diveristy may mean looking for another job (which is the topic for another lens). That's fine, but for those of you who are at your present job and plan to stay for a while, why not have a little fun while you're there? Why does work have to percieved to always be so serious?

With an environment that is constantly serious, and employer runs the risk of people being depressed which inevitably reduces production. Even worst, people in this type of environment may be prone to snap at someone or something in an uproductive or destructive fashion.

It does go without saying that if all of the people you work with have no sense of humor, then joking or pranking on your co-workers may serve to be challenging. It may not even be worth it. In that case, unless you absolutely love your job, maybe you should consider another job. However, since getting along with the people you work with represents potentially up to 75% of your overall job satisfaction, then don't be afraid to loosen your co-workers up a bit. I guarantee you, unless they are total sticks in the mud, joking around in the office will if anything bring you closer together as work associates, and who knows, maybe even friends.

Would You Rather Be The Politically Correct Worker Who Is Serious and Career Minded or The Prankster Who Doesn't Take Work Too Seriously?

It's Definitely Better To Be A Prankster. Life Is Too Short To Take Work Seriously. After All, Work Isn't Everything In Life.

    The_Homeopath says:

If I ever start taking life too seriously, please kill me.

    ArtByLinda says:

I love a good prank, but in my line of work (911) center, our pranks have to take place in the break room, or outside. It's a great stress relief. It's all fun, and I only prank those that I care about!

Life May Be Too Short, But It's Too Short To Waste Your Time Not Being Taken Seriously At Work. How Do You Expect To Get Promoted Otherwise?

    vbright105 says:

Work should be a fun place, some pranks get out of hand, though. I'm going to have to say, for the most part, take work seriously

    Jimmie says:

Sorry, I don't think that the office is a place for pranks. Fun and laughs, yes, but not embarrassing others through pranks.

Advanced Office Pranks - For The Real Devil In You!

Now we're going on to an advanced level. But here's a little warning. These pranks may potentially get you in trouble. So use them with discretion.

    1. Want to really get back at someone? Offer to buy them coffee and stir in some exlax in the morning coffee. Remember, its your treat. And remember, the amount you use will depend on how much revenge you want to exact.

    2. Interested in encasing your co-worker's stapler in jello like in "The Office" episode? Here are step by step instructionson how to do it.

    3. This is a popular prank and it gets lots of laughs. It can also be one of the fastest and easiest to pull off. Simply wrap as many of the victim's items as possible in aluminum foil, bubble wrap, toilet paper, wrapping paper, or anything similar. Target items may include keyboards, pens and pencils, computer monitors, books, or even chairs and entire desks.

    4. Place scotch tape over the mic of the phone receiver. They'll be screaming and no one will hear them.

    5. Spread a thin layer of vaseline on the earpiece of the phone. They will get an ear lubrication

    6. Place a piece of fresh chewed out flattened gum on the inner part of the phone handle. When they pick up the phone, it will be sticky fingers dialing away

    7. When your co-worker goes on vacationrubber band the front legs of their chair to the back legs of the desk. When they pulled out the chair, it will just roll back under the desk.

    8. Take a screenshot of someone's desktop and use it as the desktop background/wallpaper. Then hide the actual task bar and all the user's actual desktop icons. Last step, laugh your butt off when the victim keeps wondering why they can't click on anything.

    9. Get an industrial-sized roll of plastic wrap, the kind they use at Home Depot to wrap up palettes of stuff in factories, or wrap the roof of your car when your transporting something on your car roof. Anyway, take the plastic wrap and wrap your co-worker's car in it. They will have a heck of a time taking it off.

    10. Take the little pieces of paper out of all the hole punchers in the office and secrete them in a closed umbrella. Your target will have a shower of confetti to deal with in addition to the rain.

haha! I love playing practical jokes and wherever I work this is usually the case. How terrible not to have a sense of humour. Life must be very dull indeed for the 'oh so serious person'. -

Nice lens and some great ideas. Here's a great addition: Single out one person and get the rest of the people in the office to call them by the wrong name. E.g. if they are called John get everyone to refer to them as Bob. Over the course of several years, they will have a nervous breakdown. Hilarious!
