The Best List of Extreme Activities in Orlando!

Every time I start doing research on things to do in Orlando I am amazed at what is available here. What started out as a research post for me quickly turned into a wish list. This one goes out to all the adrenaline junkies, extreme sports fanatics and all around thrill seekers and lunatics visiting or living here!

I decide to put together a comprehensive list of activities and attractions in Orlando to make the above mentioned people drool and the squeamish people's heart rate elevated just thinking about them. This is my list of Extreme Orlando activities. They are listed in no particular order.  I will give you a brief introduction and a link to their website. Good Luck!

Skydiving:

When it comes to sky diving it's either go big or stay home! So, if you want to go big, you can try Skydive Orlando. I haven't been there yet, but I have been to Skydive Space Center. Not only does this place boast the World's highest tandem jumps at 18,000 feet, but you also have a scenic view of the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian River, and the Kennedy Space Center including all the launch sites and the main shuttle assembly building. This was an amazing experience and I can tell you I went big, because it was also my first time in an airplane!

Rock Climbing:
While not technically in Orlando, Aiguille is the largest and most well known rock climbing center in Central Florida. The center also features classes like introductory belay, rappelling, introduction to climbing and technique clinic.

Shark Diving:

Take a cage dive with SeaWorld Orlando's Sharks Deep Dive at the parks Shark Encounter exhibit that features over thirty sharks of five species and some over nine feet long. The tour includes education on sharks and thirty minutes in the cage.

Parasailing, Skiing, Wakeboarding:
Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre at Disney's Contemporary Resort offers 450ft and 600ft parasailing as well as Personal Watercraft rentals and tours, waterskiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding and tubing trips. I have done the parasailing and I can say it is worth your time to go check this place out.

Skate Boarding & BMX:
I really don't think I'm agile and in shape enough to attempt these any longer, but if you are, then check out Vans Orlando Skatepark and Orlando Skate Park.

Indoor Skydiving:
If you're not quite brave enough for the real thing yet, or just want to try something new and exciting, SkyVenture Orlando Indoor Sky Diving features a 12 foot, open flow, 1000 HP wind tunnel that gives you the sensation of flying on a 125 MPH column of air.

Racecar Driving:
The Richard Petty Driving Experience.  Ride shotgun in a 2-seat NASCAR-style 165mph stock car or even drive one yourself!  You must be able to drive a manual transmission to drive one yourself.

Hot Air Ballooning:

Orlando Balloon Rides. Hot air ballooning in the Disney area of Orlando, Florida.  Includes a hour long sunrise balloon flight, a champagne toast, breakfast, souvenirs and memories to last a lifetime! Free hotel pick up available. Children under 10 ride free.

Hang Gliding:
Wallaby Ranch was the birth place of aerotowing, which makes this exciting sport available here and not just off the side of a mountain. With tandem aerotowing, a two-place hang glider is being towed by a specially designed ultralight towplane up to 2000ft and then released for a 15 to 20 minute free-fly.

Human Sling Shot:
"Catapult 365 feet in the air with extreme force, all powered by giant cables and springs!" How does that sound to you? Good, well climb on board the Human Sling Shot at Old Town then.

Free-fall Water Slide:
Orlando is home to one of the World's tallest and fastest free-fall body slides.  Located inside Disney's Blizzard Beach is the Summit Plummit, a 12-story thrill ride that sends you down a 360-foot long flume and through a darkened tunnel at a speeds reaching 50 to 60 miles per hour!

Airboat Ride:

Glide through the Florida wetlands on an airboat tour by Boggy Creek Airboat Rides. Start out with a leisure wildlife tour and then travel up to 45 miles per hour through the wild swamp lands. If that's not enough for you, how about doing it all in the dark with a night tour and search for the native Florida alligators.

Ghost Tour:
Want to be a ghost buster? You can take a night tour of downtown with Orlando Ghost Tours, as well as paranormal investigation classes and even join in the upcoming overnight detailed investigative experience in August.

Helicopter Tour:
Go read about my scenic helicopter tour of Orlando with Air Florida Helicopters Charters, Inc and then go take one yourself.

Paintball & Combat Sports:

How about a game of survival?  Try your out your military skills at Orlando Paintball the largest indoor/outdoor facility and proshop in Florida or Paintball World Sports Complex. Then visit Hard Knocks, "the nation's first indoor combat simulation arenas open for entertainment, law enforcement training and corporate team building. Featuring 30,000 square feet of urban-themed combat area and Florida's largest, most advanced Gaming Lounge".

Zip Lines & Adventure Courses:
Are you interested in a 1000 ft zip line, rope bridges and 40 ft giant swing! I thought you would say yes.  Go Go read my blog post on two places in Orlando to find these Orlando Adventure Courses.

Roller Coasters & Thrill Rides:
Orlando has a lot of these, so I'm just going to name drop a few by park that you would definitely want to check out. At Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure; The Hulk, Spiderman, Dueling Dragons, The Simpsons, Dr. Doom and the soon to open Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.  At Disney; The Tower of Terror, AeroSmiths Rock 'n' Rollercoaster and Space Mountain.  At Sea World; Kraken, Journey To Atlantis and the newly opened Manta.  If you feel like making th short drive over to Tampa you can have even more fun at Bush Gardens' Sheikra, Montu and Kumba.

All Terrain Vehicles, Rallying & 4x4:
Revolution is a unique motor and water sport experience in Clermont, which is just a short drive from Orlando.  They are offering adventures with All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), Rallying, 4x4, Fishing & watersports.

If you know of anything I may have missed, be sure to let me know.  Share this list with a friend!

FYI, If any of you companies want to let me get a first person experience to talk about, I will try any of them.
