Better Together: A Grant-Writing Seminar
Meanwhile, the modules below each contain a poll question that needs to answered by those who attended the "Better Together" seminar. If you attended the seminar, both The Foundation Center and the Hidden Valley Community Church will greatly appreciate your taking the time to respond to the survey. The survey is structured in such a way that you can not only anonymously respond to the poll questions, but see the results.
Poll #1 - Knowledge of the Seminar
Poll #2 - Length of the Seminar
Poll #3 - The Seminar Format
Poll Module #4 - Level of Grant-Writing Expertise
Poll # 5 - New Information
Poll #6 - Future Seminars
Poll #7 - A Cooperating Collection
There is a possibility a cooperating collection (mini philanthropic library) with material supplied by The Foundation Center can be set up in Lake County. Therefore, the making of trips to either San Francisco or Sacramento would no longer be necessary for doing grant-related research.

- Lamar, you did a great job in bringing this info to Lake County. Though I was aware of the Foundation Center, I didn't realize what a major resource they really are! I learned a lot and intend to use the information I learned. I believe a resource in Lake County would be fantastic!
Again, kudos on bringing us such valuable information!

- Thank you to everyone involved for all your efforts in putting this seminar together. Judging by attendance, the interest in this area is great! I personally appreciated the opportunity very much.
I have reservations about a blanket statement regarding a Cooperating Collection. I would like some details and discussion before putting in my "vote". There are so many particulars to be considered.
Again, thank you for the chance to participate in the seminar.

- Lamar & Others - Thank You for helping to pull this seminar together!!
I am curious about the focus of your efforts - sometimes I see it as a county-wide effort, and other times I see it as middletown / hidden valley centric. If your focus is county-wide, I would recommend that such collections be centrally located within the county - from a driving perspective. Middletown has great momentum and progress, which I admire; however we must consider that for folks on the north / west side of the county - from Upper Lake, Middletown is nearly an hour drive... That silly "puddle" in the middle of the county often poses such complications.

- Lamar - Thank you and the host church for hosting this seminar. It added to my knowledge of grants. I have visited the Foundation Center in the past when I lived and worked in the bay area. However, it is much more convenient and advantageous to learn about current grant information trends and founding sources close to home. I look forward to your next invitation.

- Thank you, Lama,r for bringing the seminar to Lake County. I know there are resources in Ukiah and Santa Rosa, but the extra time and energy spent driving is sometimes prohibitive. So much nicer to see friends and acquaintences and be able to network with them.

- I joined this seminar with some vague ideas about grant writing for not-for-profit entities. Scott Ullman did a great job explaining all the does and don't aspects of it, with expertise, enthousiasm, humor and a strict timing. Endless Q&A are mostly boring, We have to digest the information and there is opportunity enough to dig in deeper. Chapeau.
Informative material in the hand outs and sources for follow up activities. A very professional presentation.
I guess a lot of very positive community activities stay for funding within the own community which is good but there could be much more opportunities with the help of the FC.
Thanks Lamar and the hosting church for organizinf this.

- As an individual seeking to become self-employed I truly enjoyed all the information Scott Ullman provided. I also thought the idea of uplifting local micro-businesses is a powerful way to achieve success. I learned through Scott during this seminar the importance of recognizing and appreciating those successful businesses around us. Lastly, a recommendation that will not only measure the success of the Foundation Center is having with these types of seminar, but also inform people to come back again for other local upcoming seminars; would to have a sign-up sheet so that those people would be contacted by mailing or email. This would hopefully open more windows of opportunity in empowering and equipping communities with the confidence to making positive things happen! Once again, thank you for the opportunity to attend.
