Family Illustrated
Welcome to the place where family is considered a revered art form, and illustrated as such.
The family unit is not what it was when I was a little girl. How families are portrayed on television and in the media have all but glossed over the honor that was once attached to the family as a unit. Television programs like "Andy Griffith," "Leave It To Beaver" and "Father Knows Best" have been replaced with reality shows that tend to overstate and exploit families with serious issues.
Over the course of time, the dynamics changed to promoting the bad, and ignoring the good. The purpose of this page is to promote the art of the family and all that is good.
A Family Of Friends
A good family usually includes good friends. Friends who are there when the going gets rough, and friends that care enough to give you a call, even though you haven't taken the time to pick up the phone to call them in a long while. These are not only friends, but persons good enough to be considered as part of the family.
The icon at the top of my page is an illustration of two of my dear friends. The illustration you see above is their daughter's family on vacation. Family Illustrated begins with Friends Of The Family.
The illustrations were composed with colored pencils and a black bic fine point roller ball pen (as seen above) on 140 lb. water color paper
Family Illustrated: The Sisterhood
I have a few friends on Facebook, and appreciate each of them. There are a few of my fellow artists who have inspired me, as their art transcends that which they create.
Not too long ago, I purchased art from two good artists. I've never met them in person. Two artists recently posted pictures of their visit to a market together on Facebook. Although the ladies are not related to each other, what I saw in the photograph was a different story. From what I've seen of these ladies, they support the arts and their fellow artists. They help each other in the arts. They care for their family, friends, and each other. They are passionate about their work. They volunteer their time to help others, and are members of The Art of Elysium.
Although most people may consider their photo as unremarkable, I saw something more than that. These ladies were not only friends, they were family. To me, they were not only artists, they were living works of art. The ladies illustrated above are Kimberly Wlassak of Gurushia's New World and Rochelle Rosenchild of ShellRose Creations.
Family Illustrated - Mary's Little Magoo

Mary Vogel Lozinak is an artist of unique talent. She is a jewelry maker, painter, sewer, and steam punk artist. Of all the things that struck my heart about her work, it was the fact that she was not afraid to create coffee cup ear rings. This artist became a new Grandmother this year, and the photos of her grandson inspired me, and became my 2010 muse of the year. This is truly a child of peace. The first drawing was completed a couple months ago, the one shown here was completed about a week or so ago. This family illustration of a child smiling is something one could picture leading into an article of joy.
Noah Illustrated

It is a blessing to see the greats in all walks of life. Although I am a Great Aunt, there is nothing like the bond between a Great Grand Mother and their Great Grand Child.
The family illustration here is of my nephew's Grand Mother with his son. This is my digital photo illustration from a photograph I took at my nephew's birthday celebration.

- Not only do I absolutely love your illustrations, I love your analogy with Family Illustrated! Life is like a moving illustration with different people entering into the picture who are all a part of the Family of Man. How lucky we are to have artists like you and your friends who capture these moments for us and make them live on. Blessed by a Squid Angel!
