Welcome to a world where anything is possible...

Welcome to the world of magick!

I am a fan of fantasy art. Not the cutesy little cherubic fairies hiding under toadstools, but rather the darker, stronger faeries, goddesses, and witches.

Here I recognize some of the best fantasy art  there is.

Though Jessica did study fine art with a major in painting for three years at the Toledo Museum of Art, she also considers herself largely a self-taught artist. Brian & Wendy Froud

Brian, raised in Winchester, studied graphic arts and worked as a commercial illustrator in London before he began to explore a deeper interest in mythic themes with the publication of Faeries, co-created with Alan Lee, in 1978. He is the mad genius behind the films The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, and the best-selling books Faeries, Goblins of the Labyrinth, Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book, Lady Cottington's Fairy Album, Good Faeries/Bad Faeries, and many others. His artwork inspired the mythic novels Something Rich and Strange by Patricia McKillip, The Wild Wood by Charles de Lint, The Wood Wife by Terri Windling, and Hannah's Garden by Midori Snyder-as well as magical works by a whole generation of younger artists and filmmakers.

Wendy, the child of American artists Walter and Peggy Midener, was born and raised in Detroit, USA. She studied art and music at Interlochen, then became a puppet-maker and sculptor for the Jim Henson studios in London and New York. She created such beloved film characters as Yoda for the Star Wars movies, and the Gelflings for Dark Crystal, as well as puppets for the Muppets television program. Her dolls and sculptures have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. Her art is featured in three books co-created with Terri Windling: A Midsummer Night's Faery Tale, The Winter Child, and The Faeries of Spring Cottage. She is also a writer. Her poetry has been published in Sirens, an anthology of mytho-erotic fantasy; and she's at work on other projects.

Nene Thomas

Nene Tina Thomas began her professional career in 1994, when she was approached by Wizards of the Coast to contribute work to the popular card game "Magic: the Gathering." Her work with Wizards of the Coast can still be seen in the Fourth and Fifth Expansions, Antiquities, Legends, The Dark, Homelands and the new "Magic: The Gathering" CD ROM Game. Some of the other card games that feature her work are Shadowfist, Legend of the Five Rings, Galactic Empires, Tempest of the Gods, Wyrmwars, Gridiron, Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, Xenophiles, and Battlelords of the 23rd Century.

Although Nene is known best for her work with watercolors, she has recently begun to expand her artistic horizons with other media, including digital. But no matter what media is used, the core elements of her art remain constant: her characters have grace and elegance, her settings are striking, and the images as a whole are breathtaking. Nene's greatest artistic ambition is to be able to perfectly capture an image that she has in her mind's eye on paper. Over the last two years, Nene has had the good fortune to see her art translated into a variety of products, including statues, ornaments, stickers, and t-shirts. Her many products can be seen in several catalogues, in retail outlets throughout the country, or on her website. The retail success of her art hasn't changed her focus however, and with each new piece she strives to push herself as an artist.

Nene currently lives in Oklahoma City with her husband Steven Plagman, who is also her framer and fancy mat cutter. Nene spends her days sketching, researching, painting and playing with her five cats: Snowmane, Amber, Blackfel, Leilani and Night Shade. She has three sisters and two brothers, all of them artistic and musically talented. She doesn't smoke, drink, swear, or gamble - but she is horribly addicted to ice skating, The Sims 2, and collecting, displaying and sewing beautiful outfits for her beautiful Asian ball jointed dolls. Aw, no one's perfect! Nene has written a few tutorials for Photoshop.

Stephanie Pui-Mun Law

Stephanie Pui-Mun Law has been painting fantastic otherworlds from early childhood, though her art career did not begin until 1998 when she graduated from a program of Computer Science. After three years of programming for a software company by day and rushing home to paint into the midnight hours, she left the world of typed logic and numbers, for painted worlds of dreams and the fae.

Her illustrations have been for various game and publishing clients, including Wizards of the Coast, HarperCollins, LUNA Books, Tachyon Books, Alderac Entertainment, and Green Ronin. In addition to the commissioned projects, she has spent a great deal of time working up a personal body of work whose inspiration stems from mythology, legend, and folklore. She has also been greatly influenced by the art of the Impressionists, Pre-Raphaelites, Surrealists, and the master hand of Nature. Swirling echoes of sinuous oak branches, watermarked leaf stains, the endless palette of the skies are her signature. Her background of over a decade as a flamenco dancer is also evident in the movement and composition of her paintings. Every aspect of her paintings moves in a choreographed flow, and the dancers are not only those with human limbs. What Stephanie tries to convey with her art is not simply fantasy, but the fantastic, the sense of wonder, that which is sacred.

Julie Fain

Julie Fain uses a variety of digital painting techniques for her vibrant fantasy silhouette paintings. Her unique style features beautiful fairy and mermaid silhouettes set against vibrant night sky and brightly lit sunset backgrounds, offering a new and exciting take on the fairy and fantasy realm.

She has been linked to the realm of fairy art for many years, specializing in graphic and webdesign for many fairy artists such as Jessica Galbreth, Linda Ravenscroft, Jacqueline Collen- Tarrolly and James Browne. This was the seed that planted Julie's love of fairy art, and encouraged her to try her hand at her own original creations.
