What is a Fascinator?

A fascinator is a fashionable hair accessory worn on the head. It sometimes resembles a small hat but is held in place by a band, clip, pin or comb. Fascinators are usually worn by women, along with formal attire. Fascinators may be made with a variety of materials including sinamay, feathers, silk, and tulle.

When to wear a Fascinator

Fascinator as alternative to hat or tiara

A Fascinator can be worn to weddings, christenings, a day at the races, cocktail and garden parties. Brides may prefer a veiled Fascinator to a tiara, and the bridesmaids and other members of the wedding party may like to wear matching or complimentary wedding Fascinators too.

Fascinator Materials

What is used to make a Fascinator?

Fascinators can be made from various materials, such as Sinamay, Jinsin, Paris Cloth and Crinoline. Ribbons of Petersham and Grosgrain line head fittings. Paste and real jewels, false and even real flowers may be used to make Fascinators. Swarovski Crystal fascinators make good impressions, as do elaborate feather fascinators.
