Fashion Startup

You would be amazed to know how many people are trying to launch a fashion business each week.  Please do not ask me, "How many?", because I unfortunately do not know the exact answer.  However, I can tell you that the number is high.  Some people want to become famous fashion designers and others simply want to manufacturer a comfortable fitting pair of shoes.  Regardless of the business objective, it is clear that new people are entering the fashion industry every single day. 

It is evident that people wish to join the industry, the question is "why?".  What is the fascination with joining the fashion industry?   Is their a definitive reason why people think that this career path is so wonderful?  Possibly, people wish to join the industy because the fashion industry has a reputation of being synanomous with beauty, style, glamour, and elegance...  Well, I guess that is a pretty good reason.

Ok, we sort of understand why people are eager to get involved with fashion.  Now, lets figure out the best way to get involved.  In fairness to the designers and apparel companies that have become successful, I must point out that it is NOT easy to launch a successful brand (or manufacturer a high quality garment etc.).  It truly takes far more than a handful of good luck.  Although many successful business people have not attend college, I strongly suggest that you attempt to gain a formal education in regard to clothing and or textiles.  You can pick up most this information from practical work experience, but their is much to be said for attending a fashion school.  You can find design schools and textile schools around the world from the fashion school directory.  

If you are not ready for attending a school or you think it is too late in your career cycle to go back to school, you may wish to reivew some fashion career guides or get some books to do research on the subject of interest.

Good luck launching a business.  We all must start at the beginning.  Hence the word startups.  Try to learn as much as you can BEFORE you invest any money in starting a new business.  Everyone thinks that they can develop the next famous brand.  However, it takes much more than good intentions to develop a poplular brand.
