Toothache Remedies

A toothache can make your life miserable.

The sharp and almost unbearable pain won't let you live your normal life -- you can't relax, sleep, eat, drink or even draw in a breath through your mouth without feeling an explosion of pain.

Most often, toothaches are the result of tooth decay eating clear through the enamel -- or hard outer coating of a tooth -- and infecting the pulp chamber, which contains many nerve endings and tiny blood vessels.

ALL toothaches should be treated as quickly as possible by a dentist or oral professional. But until you can get in to see one, here are some quick and easy remedies that might work for you.

The VERY BEST Toothache Remedies

Naturally the best toothache remedies are to not have a toothache in the first place.

Prevention really is the best cure.

Take good care of your teeth by brushing and flossing regularly and see a dentist at least twice a year so that he can catch any decay BEFORE it reaches the sensitive inner tooth.

But....

It you do get a toothache be sure to try one of these safe and effective toothache remedies ---

Fight Toothache Pain with These Easy Home Toothache Remedies

Clove Oil

Clove oil is a well known home toothache remedy and you can find it in the "tooth care" aisle of any good drugstore or grocery.

Dip a Q-tip into the oil and touch the tooth where the pain is coming from. The clove oil will deaden the nerve endings for a little while. Sometimes it helps to rub the oil onto the gum area around the tooth.

When the pain returns, simply repeat.

Mouth Wash

Mild toothache pain can often be relieved with a rinse of mouthwash such as Listerine or Scope. The reason this works is that the mouthwash will kill some of the bacteria that are eating away at the tooth.

If the cavity is too big this method will probably not work.

Baking Soda

Another age old home toothache remedy is baking soda. Desolve a small amount of baking soda in warm water and swish it around in your mouth.

This works in a similar way to the mouthwash remedy. Baking soda is a base product, it neutralizes the acids that are causing your pains.

Painkillers

Over the counter painkilling medications can also help you live with the pain until you can see a dentist. Just like any other pain -- headache, backache, strain -- a medicine that numbs the whole body should help with the pain of a toothache.

These Are Some of the Best Home Remedies We Could Find

But not everything works on everyone...

Every person is different and there are many different types of toothache and mouth pain.

The toothache remedies listed above are some of the most common and highest rated we could find but even they will not work on everyone and every pain.
